This is something I've been wondering about for a while. When Golden Sun - The Lost Age came out and I eventually got through it, I wondered where it would go next, if it did. I really hoped that there would be a gamecube one (hell, there was a gmaecube advance wars and fire emblem) if only to see how impressive the battles would look on it. I almost brought one of those daft GBA player things just to see the battles on a bigger screen. But then again, it could transfer appalingly.

If the series resurfaces, would you buy it on a console (it'd most likely be on the wii if released, i think), and would it be as good as the GBA games?

I'd buy it, irrespective of whether the game was good or not, just to see the Djinn summoning sequences on a HDTV.

I dunno, they would have to do A FUCK LOAD of work on the plot to hook me... and I'm usually pretty forgiving of JRPG's but there's something about Golden Sun's horrid scenario design that just rubbed me the wrong way.

I couldn't get into it.

Besides, seems to me that Golden Suns only real appeal is that it was a fairly decent RPG for a handheld when there were no others available. Thus burning itself into a bunch of impressionable young uns who had never played the myriad of better games out there.

That's odd, i rather liked the plot even if it WAS a bit predictable.
Honestly I sort of doubt that they can still continue the game after the ending. Well.. I didn't really see the ending I'm stuck on the damn last boss, damn he's hard. But I loved Golden Sun and its on my top RPGs.

Golden sun is one of my most favourite games ever. I would buy it on any format. I am officially a mindless fanboy. I'm so sorry.

I would really like new Golden Sun regardless of where it went. It was my favorite JRPG as a kid and now it's gone

Both Golden Sun games are great. I wouldn't mind a console version and I have to agree with the Djinn HDTV thing.

I would buy it. It would not be the thing that sold a console for me, but if it was out for something I already owned, then I think playing a new game with a similar system would be worth the money.

First, Golden Sun, though it was a JRPG, basically threw away a lot of the pretension you normally have with JRPGs and the plot was self-admittedly "world needs saving, let's go". Most games, let alone pretentious JRPGs, usually try to never admit that ever. @pantsoffdanceoff, the plot was predictable in the sense that it was simple, but the vast majority of games refuse to put things in terms of "let's go save the world!", instead trying to sideline it in favor of something more complex and (usually) more pretentious.

A big problem with the GBA golden sun was that puzzles and spell-casting were limited by working with the GBA's limitations. Puzzles with, say, the Xbox 360 (or Wii) could work out much better. Yes, Golden sun basically had to replace quality with quantity in terms of puzzles (especially in Lost Age), but that was more due to the limitations of level design on the GBA.

Just to counter my previous two points, there's no way a golden sun remake could possibly meet expectations. It would probably get ruined by gimmicks and the kind of crap you normally get from sequels.

It has all the potential to be great, but would probably fail tits up. Please, please let it happen...

I lóved Golden Sun on the DS, but I don't really dig turn-based on a big console. I'd try it though, that's for sure.

Dammit.
Thirded. As the administrator of a Golden Sun forum, I cannot begin to say how much I want a GS3.

However, I must contest that it would be best if it stayed on a handheld system. The conversion is too risky. And in any case, the fan base for the first two Golden Suns would be far more likely to own a DS than a Wii or Gamecube.
