Imagine living in a small suburban neighborhood. And if you manage to live there for 1 year (you can quit whenever you want), you will win 10 million dollars. This is a closed community. You contact the outside world. You can purchase food and stuff from a controlled provider.

The catch is this is a ZERO privacy place. There are cameras and microphones EVERYWHERE, in every room of your house, even the bathrooms. All the streets and backyards are observed. The cameras are HD and equipped with night and thermal vision.

There are computers everywhere and anyone can use them to spy on any neighbor. All your spying logs are accessible to everyone meaning everybody knows what everybody is doing. You are forced to wear a small bracelet that marks you on the system.

To make it worst, this is a reality show. There is a selection of footage that is shown 2 hours a day on public television. Paying subscribers can have permanent access to all the cameras and microphones. So they can spy on you!

Remember, you have no internet or phones or any means of reaching the outside world. You can order more or less anything through controlled means. For free. So it's a nice life with no obligation and nothing to do.... except watching and being watched.

Would you agree to live there ? If you can stay for a year, you win 10 million dollars!

A lack of privacy for a year, with no obligation to work and everything catered for me? For US$10 million?

It's a no-brainer, really.

For me, it'd be a year of (from the description) watching DVDs of classic comedy, drinking nice booze, and teaching myself a new language, and/or reading vast numbers of interesting books, with relatively few distractions.

You'd get used to it in two weeks.

Yea, I'd do it. Hell, to watch me would be unbearably boring. I'm sure they'd pay me the money just to leave early so they could get someone interesting to participate.

Don't need internet access to play Skyrim. I'm set.

So what you're saying is... a public vacation, for absolute free? Sure, why not. The only problem I see is people watching me in the bathroom, but then again, I'd just wear some fancy bathrobe all the time, problem solved.

Umm, no. No amount of money is worth suffering through something that degrading. I like having my privacy, thank you very much.

sure. I'm a boring enough person i'd just have to remember to wear clothing.....but mostly it would be me playing a bunch of single player games (which is what i do anyway since i don't care for gaming with others), reading, learning new languages, and sleeping. And keeping a journal of how boring day to day life is so I can later put it on my blog. Oh and watching dvds/blu rays. teaching myself sword fighting and new swing dance moves. and me pretty much bathing in a bikini........and changing under my clothes/towels/robes

I'd agree to it, but without some kind of gimmick involved I couldn't see this getting much viewership. I doubt many people would pay money to see me hang out and play video games or whatever.

If steam work the hell yes, if not then its time to catch up on my reading, get fitter and learn a new instrument (maybe a euphonium?).

Wonder what the neigbourghs will be like...

I don't understand, what is degrading about someone seeing you? I get you like your privacy, so do I, but degrading? It's not like they want you to be on an Island where you have to run around doing silly challenges and doing dare like eating contests. You just hang out and do what you want.
I happen to find having literally every move I make for an entire year, being viewed by a paying audience like I'm some kind of fucking zoo exhibit degrading. I'm kind of wierd like that.

Where do I sign up? If it's on public television, there's no way they'll show my junk, at the very most showing me waist-up in a shower if I decide to do my best singing there.
Besides, I could take advantage of that time to talk about the things I want to talk about. There's nothing I love more than monologuing about crap I think is important, and I think a lot of people would agree.

Come to think of it, a web series about a guy who talks about current events (and whatever else is on his mind) while making dinner or folding laundry is probably something some people would watch anyway.
... That is the best idea ever, and it must be made real.

I'd probably run about and host LAN parties naked.

And every saturday look at porn.

Buy apps for the iPad and iPhone they'd give me.

Read books.

Download a whole bunch of CDs, DVDs and TV shows (Curtosey of the program)

Shop for new clothes.

Try to lose weight and learn CSS.

Sure. Since it's a whole year of doing nothing, I'd just do things I've been planing to doing my free time. Like learning various skills and reading certain books. I already don't give a flying fuck about other people and their opinion of me. I don't need the internet and online games. I play single player games mostly. I'm pretty sure people would get bored of spying on me pretty soon, because I don't really care for social interactions.

That would make it £6.379.000 British pounds.

I think I could manage that.

I'd even do it naked.
