For ten million bucks? I year of no privacy and I'd be set for the rest of my life! Not one problem is had with this...aside from the people watching me play video games, read books, occasionally talk to people...and just not do stuff really worth watching.

Though I'd probably use it to get myself into shape, because without internet access (and no way to find a language teacher, being a closed community) it could be quite difficult to learn a language 9difficult enough that it may take more than a year to do it).
Oh, you can get CDs which complement a lot of teach-yourself courses for accurate pronounciation, but certainly you'd have some difficulties. To be honest, a year isn't enough for proper fluency anyway, but it'd be a damn good grounding, and I take the stipulation that you can order almost anything in to include films and such, and presumably they wouldn't have to be English-language.

Definitly! To be honest ive never really understood peoples obsession with privacy, the only thing I do that i dont want people to see is masturbation.

Sure... I got nothing to hide, besides it's my choice so no violation of private space.
NOt like I have something those people never seen before. It's not my hobby to spy on people, so I'm not the creep here :p

Yeah I'd do it.

And I'd make it fun for my self by only wearing cosplays and larping costumes that I own, as well as roleplay the character I'm dressed up as.

It would be fantastic.

Actually, how about adding a phone to each house that can call the out side world, but only for a bit a week, 1/2 hours would do, that way we can still contact loved ones.

If you want to make it stricter make it so they can only use it to call one number that's saved into the phone at the start of the show.

I'd do it sure, I can control myself for a year with decorum and gentlemanly behaviour. But I need something to do, I can't really be inactive, I'd be willing to work in a clinic or something. How big is the population?

A lack of privacy for a year, with no obligation to work and everything catered for me? For US$10 million?

It's a no-brainer, really.

For me, it'd be a year of (from the description) watching DVDs of classic comedy, drinking nice booze, and teaching myself a new language, and/or reading vast numbers of interesting books, with relatively few distractions.

You'd get used to it in two weeks.
Pretty much "this".

Hell, I could use it to get my Archery back up to scratch, since I've been kind of neglecting my longbow lately.
Playing soccer with the people I'm living with could be good too, even just kicking the ball around with them while catching up a few times a week.
It goes without saying, but I'll say it anyway: the above is also true for gaming. Even if I'm not allowed to play online games, I wouldn't mind converting a few (if not all) of the people I'm living with into at least avid gamers, and holding a good LAN once a month. Even just some casual gaming is also good for passing the time with people.
I already work out an hour a day, possibly could slowly improve my routine throughout the year.

Also, what thylasos said above. Plenty of free time to simply watch TV shows or movies while having some drinks with the people I'm living with.

Finally, yeah, the lack of privacy would suck pretty badly at certain times (e.g. the bathroom especially). But again, like thylasos said, I imagine I'd get used to it within the first month, and the rest will be pretty breezy. ^_^

I would like to add to what I imagine is already a large number of comments saying the same thing, though... Namely that while I'd gladly do this, I can't see it being a good show. At all. I mean, sitting down to watch people sitting down watching movies, playing games, or playing sports? Sure, I guess 2 hours every week could be spent on whatever drama happens within the week, but if there's a large enough amount of people to ensure drama every week, why would they pick me to join too? Especially for $10 million?

I think I would be able to do it. As long as I could be myself and stay inside the place I was living in for mot of the time than I would be fine. If the other participants wanted to spy on me than I say let them. All they would see is me reading a book or sleeping.

I don't know... I'm pretty boring. The viewers would have to watch me knit and surf the internet.

While I knew my answer just from reading the thread title, as soon as I read "small suburban neighbourhood", I abandoned the idea that I might change my mind depending on the conditions (even if the prospect of free gaming all day long sounds great, I couldn't live without interwebs).

Yes. If people want to watch me shit, shower and masturbate that badly then let them. $10 million would be worth a year of my privacy.

I voted no as an initial reflex. I need privacy and personal space and I tend to spazz out if I don't get it in a long time. Then again, for $10 million chances are I'd consider it. The money would help out so much with everything else I'd like to do in life that it might be worth it.

However, being 'that girl' with the world would suck. I don't want everyone to see me in clearly private situations, like if I'm on the toilet, naked or being intimate. Even with $10 million I wouldn't be able to escape the world having seen all that. I'd forever be judged by it, and I'm not sure I'd want that.

As long as I could hide my junk from the camera as I went to the bathroom, I'm good. Ten million dollars well invested and I'm set for life.

Plus I can look into the camera and talk philosophy all day and debunk the various world religions.
