Honestly no, I personally like pissing myself, wondering if by turning this corner I'm sealing my fate. Not to mention if I am a sniper, it's such a sick little thrill to pick off some poor bastard while he hasn't the slightest clue as to wtf just happened.

The only time it annoys me is when the entire team snipes on a game that requires them to work to together in order to achieve an objective. It then tends to boil down to some poor sucker (usually me) who wants to play the game type correctly running around trying to do everything on his/her own.

In moderation, they're fine.

Removing snipers would make it a bit more unrealistic...
Besides, I have no problem with snipers.
I do some sniping in games myself. It can be harder than it appears.
Nothing wrong with snipers or sniping.
It can be annoying if everyone in a match plays as a sniper... pretty much nothing happens most of the time...
Damn sniper-duels...
But if you win the sniper duel the satisfaction is much more intense I find than if i killed with a sub-machine gun or the like. Especially on games like battlefield 1943, where there is no zoom and you manage to take out a player 2 3rds of the map away...there is an immense sense of pride in that XD

[sub] I can't wait fro my dissertation to be done so I got time for XBL again *sigh* [/sub]

EDIT:
OT: NO definatly not.

Taking snipers out of games like the BF series would be a sad thing. I mean without the tarded ones that stand still I would have no one to sneak up on and cut/scare the crap out of with a DOA12(saiga for BFBC2). Its those little experiences that make playing worth while for me.

No. Hundred times no. Aswell as...everythinge everyone mentioned, I find that fighting snipers is a great part of FPS's.
Case in point: on Team Fortress 2, I play as a assho-I mean Spy. Few thing's more satisying than sneaking up behind them and stabbing them while they're scoped. Other than playing psycological mind-f*ck with them (Staying cloaked and saying "Nice Shot" every time they shoot something)...or sneaking up behind them and shooting them as a Heavy. That's fun aswell.
Alright, maybe I just enjoy tormenting snipers.

Snipers are useful in games for sniping enemies that are in cover, or defending an area. They aren't hard to avoid after you're killed by them at least once.
Yeah, And really on Call of duty with the whole kill cam thing to show you how you where killed.

If someone is good enough to snipe for that long and not get demolished by everyone looking for them, they deserve to be allowed to snipe. I've seen people who can literally hit the zoom button and as soon as they can see again you're right in their sights and you die, like that. It's just amazing how good people can get at this

It really is more difficult that expected, because unlike using shotguns or machine guns or things like that, you need to make sure you AVOID the enemy to the point that if they're too close, you're pretty much done

Removing that would make it a run around shoot 'em up fest...and no one wants a bunch of pricks running around like that
i know some people like that..but then there are also games where you can spam the scope and do a tap kill, which is highly unfair and isn't skillful, so those people can go to hell for being exploitive

otherwise completely agree, i know some people who are destroyers with scopes, even up close, its insane how good they are at scoping to where you are gonna be in .25 seconds

(on pc i suck at sniping but i am a beast with the sticks)

anyways, long live sniping, as long as you aren't exploitive on some dumb glitch or game mechanic

Snipers can ruin alot of games and gametypes, so I'm leaning towards "yes". But don't remov all of them, do it like they did in ol' Battlefield 1942; limit their numbers based on how many players there are!

Seriously, I'm REALLY getting tired of having a team consisting of 60% snipers in BFBC2, on an objective based gametype like 'Rush', and I'm on the attacking team.
oh i don't mind XD aslong as i'm on the defense team the sniper cammo can also be a surprise if they got a machine gun under it..

Yes a hundred times for me.
^Someone came back from getting dominated online

Snipers are counterable in almost every game by UNPREDICTABLE MOVEMENT, run fast, jump, turn, pull back, jump, etc.

I've been on both sides of the rifle for sniping.

The most rewarding times is uncovering a sniper at close range before he notices you. Go up and knife 'em.

Snipers always have some disadvantage at close range. Depending on the game this could be a lot or not much. In MAG it takes a few levels for the Full-Auto sidearm to unlock; for several levels the sniper has little recourse at close range. In Halo the player just has to be quick about their weapon switching and planning their loadout properly.

No. Without snipers to pick them off everyone would just run around like lemmings on speed. I hate how most online FPS games are turned into reflex tests of who can shoot first by the players.
and really how else should they be played?

I like snipers, sometimes you get too many noobs wanting to be the sniper but most of the time its an even amount of every style of weapon.

Plus if you removed the sniper from TF2 someone would have to die

Sniping was never my cup of tea, but shotguns are where it's at! I don't mind snipers at all. The only way I could see snipers being bad is in a multiplayer game where you don't respawn. But in games where you do respawn (read: all online multiplayer games I've ever heard of) it's commpletely worth it to run up and shotgun a sniper.

For the most part no, BUT: I had more fun in Killzone 2 before I was getting into games with the sniper class unlocked.
