No, shooters have a lot in common with RPGs in regards to play style and class choices, every weapon group has it's purpose and advantages and disadvantages. Variety is the spice of life.

Removing snipers would make it a bit more unrealistic...
Besides, I have no problem with snipers.
I do some sniping in games myself. It can be harder than it appears.
Nothing wrong with snipers or sniping.
It can be annoying if everyone in a match plays as a sniper... pretty much nothing happens most of the time...
Damn sniper-duels...

No. Without snipers to pick them off everyone would just run around like lemmings on speed. I hate how most online FPS games are turned into reflex tests of who can shoot first by the players.

Snipers are useful in games for sniping enemies that are in cover, or defending an area. They aren't hard to avoid after you're killed by them at least once.

No. The only game I can see improving without snipers is halo, cause whoever gets the sniper rifle pretty much gets free 1-hit kills until they run out of ammo. CoD snipers are good, as are Bad Company 2 snipers.

If someone is good enough to snipe for that long and not get demolished by everyone looking for them, they deserve to be allowed to snipe. I've seen people who can literally hit the zoom button and as soon as they can see again you're right in their sights and you die, like that. It's just amazing how good people can get at this

It really is more difficult that expected, because unlike using shotguns or machine guns or things like that, you need to make sure you AVOID the enemy to the point that if they're too close, you're pretty much done

Removing that would make it a run around shoot 'em up fest...and no one wants a bunch of pricks running around like that

Because running and spraying bullets is the only legitimate way of playing any FPS. Anything else is a "f*ggoty a$$ n00b cheating".

That is acually how i see it.

lol.. i recall back in modern warfare 1 i killed a mate of mine 10 times in a row from one end of the mab to the other ... with a DERSERT EAGLE!!! i just used the look down the sight and shot him :p damn he got pissed off and thought i was cheating :p wich i wasent... i was just awesome lol

so snipers dosent really matter.. snipers can be defined with alot of weapons :) you just gotta have the skill with the weapon and a good eye ;D

No, Sniping really brings FPS's to a whole always providing that unease when you're walking around cause your head could be seen between the scopes. Also it takes a certain amount of skill to be a sniper.

Just because I don't like them in multiplayer, doesn't mean that they don't serve a purpose. Also, I really enjoy them on the mission/ co-op levels against bots.

im fine with some sniper is game but all are made badly for example cod MW 2 why can u run at top mobility with a sniper. since when dose a sniper weigh less then an assault rifle and the same as a pistol or sub machine gun

Halo can do without the Sniper Rifle, it's just way too overpowered. However in most post 2008-ish FPS's, the Sniper Rifle has some huge downsides to its power. This can be made simple by eliminating crosshairs when not in scope, having an extended and realistic eye-to-scope time, and implementing blur and distance. All these force the user of the Sniper to be quite skilled in his/her field of expertise.
The Halo Sniper Rifle implements none of the above mentioned, and thus as one poster said

This couldnt be more true!!
I stay away from the sniper rifle in games like MW2 because to be honest I lack the patience and the reflex to use it. I'm much more of a run-and-gun type. =]

Snipers are an awesome part of most FPS.

Variety is the spice of life. (One of the reasons that games like Timesplitters and Team Fortress will always own games like CoD, Halo etc for me).

Learn to play. Snipers are good, but they have their weaknesses

But i don´t want to learn how to play, i want to have fun, and snipers destroy my fun.
