Of course I would.

Think of the ladies.

So many ladies...

Definitely. But I would require society to afterwards alter itself for a better and ultimately friendlier world. In addition, I would ask to be a leader in this new world order.
Then I would demand a sidekick.

I'd want extra powers for the job. A human is no more than a human, after all, and I am not different from anyone else.

Only extra powers will balance me out from the 5 billion other people who could easily step into my shoes.

It'd be fine if I'd lose them afterwards - as long as I at least gets something to work with than sticks and harsh language.

Do I get something that sets me apart from the other 7 billion other people? Like magic or something? 'Cuz, yeah, in exchange for that, I would totally save the world. However, what's stopping more able-bodied people from doing it?

Without context this question is pointless, it's like asking "would you like a million dollars?". It's easy to say "yeah of course I'd save the world" but without knowing what kind of struggles you'd be up against it's easy to imagine yourself as a hero.

Plus you can never know how you'd react in life threatening situations until you actually are in the situation

Am I guaranteed to survive?

If so, then yes.

Although I'd still grumble about it.

Yes! I love the idea of being a hero!
What? I like the warm fuzzy feeling that comes from helping people. Saving the whole world would be some kind of uber-fuzziness.

I'm not altruistic, I just get a lot of happiness out of being a decent person. Even if I only have a couple of seconds to appreciate how awesome I've been to everyone, I'd do it.

...This question only works if you know you're saving the world, right? So my answer still stands. To any saying no/maybe - where will you live after the world is destroyed?

I'll just say this. With every two assholes out to fuck everything up, there's at least one person out to do the right thing. I think that's enough to want to preserve the world

This thread is ridiculous.
Of course I would. And so would the rest of you. If not for everyone else, then for the few people you do care about.
I guess the real question is how would you do it. Would you be heroic, quiet, sardonic or an arrogant douche? I'm gonna have to go with quiet. Any strangers running up to thank me can kindly fuck off. I wouldn't do it for them. Just get it over with and go back to doing science or whatever. Unless I died in the process which would be a major bummer. Still worth it though. I'm gonna die either way and at least now I get some kickass legends written about me and maybe score a spot on some currency. Almost makes it worth dying.

I thought this thread was going to be about helping some girl who's getting attacked in an alley or rescuing kids from a burning building. That would've been a way more interesting discussion that'd likely contain far less of the "all people suck" sentiments.
