I was watching the movie Looper just recently and it got me thinking "could I do that?" I don't think its too spoilerish to the movie to explain the concept of a looper. Mobs from the future use time travel to send their enemies back in time to where you assassinate and dispose of the bodies. This means in the mobs time there is no evidence of a deceased body. The catch is that they will send your older self back in time for you to kill(Hooded, so you don't know its you. This is called closing the loop) Once you have killed your 'future self' you get a huge payout and have 30 years to enjoy before they come for you.
The question is would you do it? Aside from having a job that involves killing people would you rather live a great life for 30 years to know you WILL meet a violent end or would you rather live a normal life in what the movie portrays as a pretty derelict, run down world?
Personally, I couldn't do it. While the money might be good I'm a easily stressed person at the best of times and I would go crazy in the last year knowing that people are actively hunting me down to have me killed. Trying to beat fate would be futile.
