In the real world, I'd be a hero/villain, depending on who you asked. To Christians, I'd likely be the anti-Christ, for example. Palestinians would probably have a different opinion, depending on whether or not they could get over having an atheist lesbian telling the Israelis to back off. The real world is far too complicated to simply say "I'd be a hero/I'd be a villain." I'd do what I felt was right, and let people judge me on their own. If too many people didn't like what I felt was right, what do I care? I'm super strong and invulnerable. Suck it, peons.

In a comic book world, I'd go with Marvel. Mostly because that's what I always used to read. I'd probably sign up as a reserve Avenger, and otherwise go about my normal life. That way, when Really Bad Stuff(TM) is going down, I'll be there to help. But for day-to-day things, I'd leave it to the people who are out there every single day. Ending up with my own rogues gallery and people wanting to off me/my loved ones just doesn't sound like that much fun. At least in the real world, I'd have the advantage of being more powerful than they ever could be. In a comic world, not so much.
more or less, that. especially the second bit about just being a second, or even third string Avenger/JLA, they have enough people at street level that if I'm really in the 'Flying Brick' Tier then going after muggers would be kinda silly.

I'd do nearly everything possible to keep my existence a secret, at least from the general public. That does not however by any means indicate that I'd be willing to sit idly by and let the abilities go to waste. Lets just say a few of the more destabilizing elements of society have a good chance of mysteriously disappearing for good.

As for the actual poll options, none of the above, at least in the classic sense. I suppose anti-hero would be relatively close. My motivation is definitely in line with the "save the world" temperament held by comic book heroes, but I consider the ideals and ROE held by them to be childish naivete at best. Hell, I would accuse most of the classic heroes of aiding their enemies, whether deliberately or not.

Take Batman and Joker for instance. Joker's been in and out of prison so often over the years, one must wonder if the wardens are even bothering trying to keep him locked up. At some point, say the third time the bastard has beaten the legal system in order to kill hundreds of civilians, Batman should know damn well that a quick death for Joker would save untold numbers of lives. Failing to kill him with that fact in mind means taking on a large part of the responsibility for those deaths.

99% of people saying anything but 'Civilian' are full of shit:

Super Hero- There are plenty of ways to be a hero without super powers, so why would having them make you suddenly want to be a hero? Go donate a fucking kidney and we'll talk
Super Villain- Ya, like you got the balls (or the stomach) for that
Anti Hero- Your nowhere near interesting enough to be an anti hero
Mercenary- See 'Super Villain'

I'll give 'I've got another idea' a slide cause I don't what your idea is. If its something that requires no courage and that you would have the stomach for than I can see you doing it.

However, at the GIGANTIC risk of sounding like a gigantic hypocrite I would probably be a hero. I don't know shit about the Marvel or DC worlds so lets just pretend I'm Superman in the real world. I would first go down to Juarez, Mexico (I live in the US so I might as well start somewhere close) and one by one topple down the Mexican Drug Cartels. Then I would take the hundreds of billions of dollars from that and donate it to charity (I might succumb to keeping a VERY small portion for myself depending on if I can get my own merchandising rights, but at most it would be in the thousands range). Then I would go to Afghanistan, destroy the Taliban and the last bits of al Qaeda. After that I would move down to impoverished Africa and destroy everyone there who was corrupt one country at a time and allow for the people to chose how they wish to be ruled, therefore hopefully allowing them to create a stabilized country that will in time begin to produce a much higher GDP and eventually become a stronger nation. With all the worlds problems solved I would spend the rest of my life having sexual intercourse with every hot girl in the world because I'm Superman.

I would become a construction worker in the DC universe, look at the money roll in and use my super power to keep myself alive through whatever shit-storm happens to pass by were ever I am at the moment.

I'd be a civilian, and just use my powers for pissing around and the odd bit of personal benefit. I'm way too lazy and unmotivated for actually being useful, it seems like so much hassle. Being a superhero? Ain't nobody got time for that!

all i got to say is they would need to start digging graves as id wipe out a good portion of the populus takeing over the world. why you may ask? because people only come together and forget their differences when they have a commen enimey, thus once they have banded together to beat me id fake my death and go live in the shadows waiting for someone to fuck up so i could do it all over again:)

Vigilante, hero-tendencies.
Keep my identity secret except to my significant other, but I'm not sure which world I'd choose, Marvel or DC.

I'd probably keep it on the down low. As soon as I'm news, there's gonna be some sick fuck (probably a lot actually) who will get it in their mind to become the villain and they'll end up going after my loved ones.

If I had the power to make sure no one knew my identity, then yes, I would probably at least do some kind of high risk missions for the military and police work. Basically, if there was a situation where a normal person would die to get the job done, I would do it instead.

However, since I don't have the power to keep my identity a secret, civ in both.

If I was in the real world, I'd be an anti-hero except without any heroes around. I would do things my way, which would generally align with the good objectives, but would involve a lot more of my personal morals and judgment. I definitely wouldn't be at the whim of military or government. I would not, for instance, be above intimidating public figures.

If I was in a universe already filled with heroes and villains, it would depend on the universe. I'm not up to scratch on my comic book knowledge so I can't say which groups I'd support or join, but I know if I was in the world of X-Men I'd be on Magneto's team for sure. It would also depend on the strength of my powers. I think I'd be good enough at keeping my lives seperate for that not to be an issue, but if I could take other heroes and not get destroyed I'd be an anti-hero and if I couldn't I'd be a civillian for the most part. For purely practical reasons.

Probably civvie but take advantage or my powers for certain personal reasons. Applies to both universes.
Having a superhero persona would get my family into trouble and shit and people would expect me to do stuff. I'm also not a massive **** so I wouldn't go around villain-ing.
