Meh I only desire enough money to live comfortably. An offer of 100s of millions of dollars doesn't provide enough motivation for me.

Unless I can use this money to become a super villain, in which case I accept.

how much millions are we talking about?
I didn't put anything in the intro about specifics but if that matters to your answer let's say...

Five hundred Million Dollars (more than enough to live comfortably your entire life and extravagantly your entire life if you're smart with it) but you are forced to do...10 years of the show. If you quit early, you still get paid a little bit but you will not become stupid-rich if you quit early.

For hundred's of millions? Sure, as long as I have a few friends and acquaintances who like me, the rest of the world can hate all they want, I honestly don't really care what they think. They can keep on hating and I can sit on my giant cruise ship in the tropics with a few cool people and chill out :-D
yup boom, i'm already an introverted independent person, people can hate me all they want, because all they have is "because...reasons!", I'm a villain on a tv show you dumb twats, I laugh at your stupidity.

Look at Kanye West for example; not even real talent is helping to ease the hate. The result? Take a look [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S78tT_YxF_c] for yourself.
real talent? that's debatable, but the words coming out of his mouth on interviews and actions in public are not, the dude is a self righteous douchebag.

....Yes?

I mean, I don't want to be Kim Kardashian, fuck that. But for hundreds of millions of dollars? Yeah. Sure. I can, like, live in issolation my entire life and have a child, except not let anyone know that was my child, and then give them all of my money when I die, so their life can be happy, at least.

Or b) I buy a large dog and threaten people that I'll make it sic their children when they're not home if they make fun of me.

I'm already hated for free so yes, I would. In fact, I bet I could use the peoples' hatred of me to my advantage. Let's say I put my weight in money behind something like anti-gay stuff or the Tea Party movement; by proxy, the PR shills associated with those particular movements would have a hell of a time trying to dissociate me from them while the people not believing a word the PR shills are saying are are howling for the death of the movements just because I'm in them.

To add more hatred, I would most definitely invest a few million in a variety of stocks and hope for the best.

Hmmm. Unending, unyielding hatred in exchange for remarkable wealth, eh?

If I was to do so, I know I'd only have one possible recourse after getting tired of taking money from the brainless: Run for public office.

Think of it: if my reputation was toxic enough, I could sink whatever party I chose simply by belonging to it or even saying I support it. Cutting the other way, by being a lightning rod for all the rage and rancour focused at government bigwigs, I could keep the public's eye far away from policies that might otherwise inflame or outrage the public and coax a bit of positive change into the waking world.

Or plunder it for my own evil ways. Hey, if I'm going to be universally hated, I have to take my fun where I can get it.
It's like an episode of South Park come to life! :D

(Season 4: Ned and Uncle Jimbo tell the KKK clan to be for the opposite of what they believe so that everyone votes for what they actually want)

For that very reason and that amount of money, Hell Yeah!!!

I mean I thought you'd say something like "you get 10k per baby you kill and everyone knows it's you but for some strange reason the law can't catch you" kind of sick thing.

Being the villain in a TV series and being hated and getting insane amounts of money, bring it!

Aren't people with lots of money already hated? Especially if they've done little to earn it? So yes, I'd do it! I'm pretty antisocial anyway so its not like it would hurt my party life

He's always been a douche-bag, even when he wasn't that famous outside the hiphop scene but as he became more famous and successful his harmful personality was nurtured. Now with constant media attention, Kanye is becoming more and more of a troubled man. At what point do we stop calling him a douchebag and start calling him mentally ill? Anyhow, even if everyone in this thread are all saints compared to him, you're gonna have to be one hell of a human being to not let the constant hate and scripted assholery influence you.

yes but him being hated is a direct correlation with him being a douchebag, there is no mistake for that, while in this scenario in the thread being hated would be because of a role you played in a tv show; there is a difference, we aren't douchebags to the world because of ignorant personalities but because of our role we play, he's a douchebag by nature.

I could misunderstand what you are getting at, but all the money in the world isn't going to change me into this:

"I'm doing pretty good as far as geniuses go ... I'm like a machine. I'm a robot. You cannot offend a robot ... I'm going down as a legend, whether or not you like me or not. I am the new Jim Morrison. I am the new Kurt Cobain ... The Bible had 20, 30, 40, 50 characters in it. You don't think that I would be one of the characters of today's modern Bible?"

The point I was getting at was that you'd be worse off, I used Kanye West as an example because he came to mind thinking about fame as a corrupting force and talent. There are better examples and I admit that was my slip-up but I think you know what I'm getting at.

We are indeed playing a role but this role is pretty much our life now, it's on literally all the time and for this time we have to 'act' like douche-bags. I think it's silly to think that these circumstances won't change you as a person gradually over time.

well that is a matter of opinion, if all I had was a 10 year contract but I got 500 million (I believe that is what the OP specified?) then I'd be the most villiany villian on the planet, I'm not required to deal with people outside of on set so I would just go home and live in peace (basically what I do now regardless) and enjoy my money by swimming in it for exercise daily.

however if I was required to go out in public everyday(high volume areas) and keep acting that job out for a long term period of time (20-30 years), then yes, it would be a pain in the arse and I probably wouldn't do it anymore.

also, maybe William Zabka would be a better choice for your comparison? he's heralded as the most hated jerk/bully growing up, but he is actually a really nice guy from what I hear.

You can always buy happiness with money! *hint hint*

But yeah, I think I would be able to win people over without involving money even if I was filthy rich.

Seeing as how I'm currently not well-liked, and I do it for nothing, the only change would be the money.

So yes.

Sure. Haters gonna hate, but I could buy whatever I wanted, help charities, make a guest house for my friends who for the life of them can't manage a place.

Hell, managed right I could stay rich.
