... Can I be one?

If so, then no. If not, then yes. It also kind of depends on the power of it. If it's weak enough to not be able to cause significant harm to people and was solely limited to the short-range manipulation of small objects, then I'd be less afraid than if it were powerful enough to, say, level a building.

Telekinetic, as in telekinesis, as in the ability to move things with your mind, right? Eh, it depends really. It's kind of scary simply for existing, since how much potential for wrongdoing it has. On the other hand, it could do great things. So I wouldn't know until I've met someone with it.

At .5%?

No. No individual can contend with a group. Give that telekinesis, and you'll need a bigger group, but a group will still prevail.

Anyway, that depends... would they be able to read thoughts? If so... yes, that would be scary.
That's telepathy.

Telekinesis is moving stuff with your mind.

Assuming that we're talking people with powerful enough abilities to pick me up and throw me across the room?

Only if I did not also possess such powers. But then I'd probably carry a gun in case they snapped.

If it was just the ability to move objects then I would be somewhat scared but it would be more in awe than anything else.

However, if they were telepathic as well I would be terrified. In fact I don't think that I would ever have another coherrent thought if I knew someone around me might be a telepath. I think I would be constantly thinking "Blergh blu blah, not thinking anything, blee blah blee," to try and avoid being read.

I would be more jealous that I don't have the gift myself. You don't want to know how often I've tried using The Force to bring a can of coke into my hand.

Well if he's sticking to the word telekinetic, then it should be no. Tele means from a distance or long range, kinetic or kinesis means movement. Put the two together and you get it. Besides aren't mind readers called telepaths?

Anyway, me personally? Yeah I would be. The ability to move things without having to move your body yourself from a distance without being visibly seen moving said object can be quite scary. If the person has a strong enough power maybe they can even split people apart, from the inside.

Then again it would be fun if I had it. I'd imagine that a lot of guys would use their new found powers by spontaneously ripping the clothes of every single hot chick they meet.

Wives have that ability.

They can slap a husband and make them feel like a scolded child with 1 look and a mean thought.

Some kids have it too.

They can make you take out your wallet and hand over your money without realising you are doing it.
I swear this is the only logical explanation for why my parents keep giving my sister money.

OT: Yes, people with the ability to kill me with their minds would be scary.

Yes. I would be terrified.
If it were a teenager: we'd all be doomed. Go watch Chronicle.
An adult: we may have hope...
A child: who knows... just don't make it mad.

Me: world peace from you friendly neighborhood superhero of justice!!!

You're thinking of a variant of telepathy. Telekinesis refers to the ability to remotely manipulate kinetic energy, usually in order to move objects around, and has nothing (at least by default) to do with mind reading.
Okay, that doesn't sound too bad, most people would probably act pretty reasonably with those powers. Scratch me up for a "no".
People... Acting reasonably... WITH SUPER POWERS?!?!?! HA!

[sub][sub][sub] It'd run on a spectrum of responsibility I guess[/sub][/sub][/sub]

OT: Honestly I think I'd have an irrational hatred of them because of the biotics from the first Mass Effect. They were so annoying XD

So no, no fear. Just an intense burning Hatred that consumes my very soul.

Only 0.5% of all people? Thats 1 out of 200, which means in a world of 7 billion people, thats 35,000,000 people with Telekinetic powers. I'd be quite paranoid.

Telekinetics? I doubt I'd be any more worried by them than I am by random ordinary people with guns. Because, Y'know, you don't really need special magic power if you're of a mind to wreak havoc, these days.

That would be absolutely shit. As life would be like this for everyone who deals with people who abuse their powers.

No, I would likely try to find and befriend one of them, and later see if it was possible to unlock such potential power in myself...

Not at all, telekinetic powers would take so long to train someone will find out before the training is complete, in that time after they find out, I'll have created multiple countermeasures for telekinetic users, just like with every other ability people can use. Every kind of supernatural power that people fear others developing at the end of the day just a unique tool with as human at the end.
