Yes, this sounds like an odd topic and could almost elicit a chuckle if taken from a stereotypical point of view. "I don't need any friends because I'm friends with myself!"

Well, that's not exactly what this is about. Though humorous, this is a deeper thought. A self evaluation if you will. We all have acquaintences. People you meet in passing and may see day to day but don't really know. They're ok, right? You don't really have to deal with their problems and they don't have to deal with yours. Instead it's more of a shared existence by association.

Friends are on a different level. They are more then just accidents if you will. Though sure, we meet them often accidentally, after the meeting, we actively seek the individuals out. We create bonds with them, share with them, get in trouble with them, get angry with them and forgive them. Now that we have the basis out of the way, I pose you this question.

Would you, honestly, be your own friend? Think of yourself the way another would percieve you. From first meeting, to the level of acquaintance, to the actual depth of friendship. Would you actively seek yourself out?

Edit - Preferably post and say why as well. A self evaluation isn't much use with out the reason why you come to the conclusion you do.

Edit[sup]2[/sup] - To clear up some confusion. The individual is "like" yourself. As if you are meeting yourself from another person's perspective for the first time and have no previous knowledge of yourself.

Knowing someone EXACTLY like myself would be dangerous as we both may end up dead

I think I'd hate myself but have respect for myself at the same time. (dunno if that sounds pathetic or narcissistic)

Yup, conversations would be boring as hell.

Me: "You know, a week ago one guy was-"

Me: "Oh yeah, I know."

Me: "sigh."

Fuck yes. I have so much in common with myself and I'm pretty good at playing the devils advocate that I could have some really great coversations with myself.

The person I talk to the most is myself anyway so I guess I am already friends with myself. :-D

pwned.

That depends on how philosophical you want to get. Are you asking us if we would be friends with ourselves based upon the way we act or based upon our own, personal knowledge of ourselves?

If I met someone like myself I would either like them or hate them depending on how I met them and the context. That seems to go for pretty much everyone I meet, under the right circumstance my humour and nature might come across as a positive but under the wrong context I can appear to be extremely hostile and blunt.

If I met myself, knowing how I think and what I was like I wouldn't be friends with the other me because technically they are just me in an identical body. My opinion of them would be exactly the same as the opinion I have of myself.

If I ever met myself we'd start a rock duo and call ourselves 'Ultra Gemini'.
I'd handle vocals and guitar, while I'd play drums and keyboard.

If I ever met someone exactly like me, I think we'd hit it off. I might even turn gay if it's a male.

probably not. I'm a fat slob.

I've known fat slobs, and I did not want to be their friends.

Ah, thanks for pointing this out as I forgot to clarify that aspect and have no edited to do so. It would be based upon the way you act. Barring the complete and total randomness of circumstance of course. Even in favorable situations, there are just some individuals who you will not be able to get along with. Would you, in a favorable circumstance, be friends with yourself. Would you find yourself someone you can get along with?

Not in a way where you know the very inner workings of your mind, as most everyone would probably shy away from everyone else if they knew the depths of each other's mind.

If i had sex with myself, would that class as masterbation or incest?

OT: I think i would get along with myself, but would end up finding him annoying and flawed.
