Poll: Would you be your own friend?

I have often said that if there were a female version of me around somewhere, we'd have a whirlwind romance with more sex than you'd typically expect from a porn film followed by an extreme flameout, a vicious breakup, and we'd be mortal enemies for the rest of time.

Now a male version of me? That's a buddy for life, someone who's as obsessed with accounting, finance, sports, and strategy gaming as much as I am. I'd have him over every week to play Axis & Allies and watch soccer, and if his taste in women was anything like mine, his wife and my wife would get along swimmingly, probably cooking the food or doing crafts together while the men played their games.

I know people who are 'like' me, and I can't stand them.

It's probably because I tend to act a certain way around other people, and that particular personality meshes with other people's personalities pretty well. Like a key and a lock.

Putting two of those personalities together is like trying to open a locked door with another lock. It doesn't get you anywhere and eventually gets pretty frustrating.

Aw, edit 2 made me have to change my answer. At first, knowingly meeting myself, and having self-esteem issues, I'd say no. I wouldn't be friends with me and it boggles me how I manage to have friends at all. But if I met "someone like myself" with no inside knowledge... yeah, I'd totally be friends with me.

Though, I suppose, getting acquainted with myself would cause the most difficulties... I am told I look like a very angry person. Angry people generally aren't the type you feel the need to walk up to and start chatting with. At least, so I'm told.

So, I would be friends with my clone if I could get past the "walk on the other side of the street to avoid them" and actually meet them. Which basically means, we'd probably never meet. *sigh*
