If it had enough content, then of course I would pay $60.
But sadly the state of affairs with indie games and pricing has soured me recently.
There really is no point to pay the asking price of indie games anymore because a month or so after release it gets slapped into one indie bundle or another and you kicking yourself for paying full price for the game.

If the game offers $60 worth of content, does it even matter who developed it?

There are AAA titles that aren't worth the $60 price. There are indie games that will last you far in excess of the $10 or so asked for it. The reverse is also true: AAA titles worth more than their price and indies worth less than $10.

I would need to consult my friends, see if they reccommended it. If I had a bit of free cash, or enough people reccommended it, or if it looked like it would be really good, then yeah, I would buy it.

I'd be really hesistant to pay 60 (euro/dollar) for a game from a developer I never heard about. If the game gets really good reviews on severel websites I trust, I'd consider it and I'll want to play a demo first.

Mostly in hindsight I'd be more then willing to pay full price for an indie game, like Bastion for example. If the game was priced at 60 dollar before I had a chance to check it out myself I never would pay full price.

I wouldn't spend $60 on any game. So I don't. The industry needs to learn that this price average is just too high.

That depends entirely on whether or not it was worth the $60. That being said if it's still the same as your basic indie game then that is not very likely.

If it had the content of a AAA title then yes, indie games tend to be 1/4 the length of a $60 title that's why they have 1/4 or less of the price tag.

This is sort of hard for me. I think that games should be priced by their quality not polygon count but how do you measure that? The amount of hours you get out a game is not definite, But most people use it as a way to measure value. Most of my friends told me I should get Skyrim instead of CoD because it was more valuable in price to hours so it would be better. I think we should try to expand and change prices of indie and b-aa games but it is called the aaa industry for a reason.

No, But only because I live in Britain, and we use real money, not Dollers. >=D
Just kiddin', but yeah, I would, if I thought the game looked good, or got good reviews. But I would be slightly more careful about it than I normally would be.

No. 60 dollars is too much for any game, ever.

I love lots of games, but I also love lots of books.

Just like I wouldn't spend 60 dollars for my favorite novel I don't think anyone should be cool with spending 60 dollars for their favorite game.

Profits through quantity, not high price tags.

Anywho, others like the 60 bucks price point so more power to them. For me its arbitrary and doesn't truly represent what you are buying.

YES I get it they spent way more than 60 bucks to make it. That soda you are drinking took WAY more than 99 cents to produce, but they are also selling it to 6 million other people. Profits through quantity.

(Before anyone says that bulk makes soda cheaper, the development time, facility construction, and employee costs all add up to more than the cost of the drink itself. It is through mass production that they make up the difference through bulk discounts and other wizardry).

Everything is worth what its purchaser will pay for it. Publilius Syrus (~100 BC).

Not exactly a modern mindset. But still rock solid.

I can't say never, but I would be really unlikely to make that decision. When I pay that kind of money for a game, it's because I already trust the franchise/publisher or really enjoyed the demo. Indie developers don't have the reputation for me to guarantee that before purchase, so unless a demo absolutely blew me away I wouldn't even consider it.

Depends on the production quality and how long it is. If we're talking about Bastion level image and animation quality and a length that is easily a full week of non-stop gameplay, sure, I'll pay $60.

Basically that^
I don't really care who made it so long as it?s good and worth the price.
