I would ask myself why I was currently the owner of The Escapist, and then I would sell it back to the original owners so everything would be back to normal and I would be 500000$ richer

Once it get's up to a mil then I'll sell it, until then I would just replace all male reviewers(except Yahtzee) with female reviewers.

Well what, boobies sell and they sell good :D

No because A, I love the escapist too much, and B I think that value will go up.

I'd sell it in a heartbeat. I love money.
Same here.

$500k is a lot of money, and that would go well to finance my dream house and a nice new car.

EDIT:
If the average monthly income was good, then I'd keep it.
Say $5000 a month would do quite nicely.

Depends on the income I make from it. The Escapist might be worth more in the future. I could use its worth as leverage. $500k now is a lot, but if running this website pulled a salary I would be a lot less likely to want to sell it. A website doesn't require you to live in one place to run it. There's no commuting, no educational requirements, and I can set my own hours.

I'd sell it to EA so they can use it for their origin service. *snicker* I couldn't even keep a straight face typing that. No of course not I wouldn't sell it.

A bit scary how the unique visitors to the site has been in steady decline since May of last year. Anyway given that it makes $857/day so about $25,710/month I don't know if I would. I actually can't believe the amount of people asking how much the daily/monthly income is. Have people really gotten so lazy as to not click on the link?

Blasphemy! How can one who entrusted this site with his deepest thoughts and desires sell it like a box of old peaches?! Never, never I tell you will I sell this site!

Mostly because I'd have nowhere to go for fun facts and series.

Also, I had no idea google made $2,700,000 a day.... I should maybe go work for them.....
Also wikipedia makes $400,000 a day. Not bad for a encyclopedia.

Lastly; The site of minecraft makes a whopping $18 a day! Check that out! Notch can buy himself like 3 icecreams for that! Amazing! Lol.

But seriously, don't you even dare consider selling this wonderful peace of heaven.

"worth" 500,000" .... hmmm ... no ...

Even with all the costs, effort, manpower, and time that would go behind the Escapist ... I don't know... I think for a website that pulls as many viewers as it does that the opportunity for growth isn't going to rapidly depreciate over the next 5 years.

$500k sounds a bit low. I'm sure the brand is worth more than that. Those website valuing companies work on very restrictive criteria. Also the "website" may be worth that, but the company?

I love the escapist too much to sell it. I can't imagine new ownership would benefit it more than what it has right now. As a website by gamers, for gamers it succeeds and it should remain true to that formula.
I agree

I'd sell it to a company with a more laxed view on rules. :D

I dunno. 500K is a fair chunk of change. But it's not anywhere near enough to retire on, so if this place was my source of income, I'd have to decline.

Nothing under 3 mil.
Pretty much this. If I owned it, I'm making money off of it. Better to have a money printer than to sell it to buy... something that doesn't print money.

I doubt it, if i owned this site i'd be happy with what i have, i wouldn't even know what to do with that kind of money.

On a side note, google.com is worth 2 billion, that i would sell

Using that website I found something unusual.

I decided to type in a website I know and this is what I got:

Mangafox.com

Estimated Worth: $1,623,187 USD
Income Per Day: $2,795 USD

No, it's a continuous source of revenue. That's much better than half a mil in my pocket.

The Escapist is not mine to sell and even if it was, I wouldn't unless I know that the new owners aren't going to screw it up.

Heh. Sites like that are quite amusing.

My mother attempted to start a consulting service with her IT skills, and because she registered as a business, she ended up being listed on a business website.

Now, we found this listing, and it was quite amusing... Apparently, despite having no customers, no assets (apart from a government loan), no revenue, and well, pretty much nothing that could qualify as the signs of a real, functioning business, the website still listed her company with a valuation of about 1.1 million Euros.

Yeah, that's right. That's more than double what the escapist is worth, according to your source, and the escapist is an actual, functioning company, where my mother's most definitely was not.
(she's made a tiny bit of progress since then, but still...)

It really makes you wonder how these kind of sites come up with valuations...
