So this week's topic, sure to start a fire (or several) is thus;

Would you consider (or would you) seriously dating or marrying the sterotypical "bimbo"?

(Or for the women, the male equivalent of that. Not being a woman myself, I'm not sure on the terminology there and I'd rather NOT see the search results for that personally).

By "stereotypical" I mean the very attractive, appearance-focused, kind of silly/a little vapid and not terribly smart woman. Note that we're NOT talking dumb as in mentally handicapped or unable to function...just not the sharpest tool in the shed.

We're also assuming for sake of clarity that the person doesn't have any other negative traits you wouldn't like in a partner - IE: they're not an asshole, etc.

So what would you do?

Personally, as unlikely as it is to ever happen, I can't say I wouldn't. If the opportunity arose, I wouldn't be looking a gift horse in the mouth so to speak.

(Those of you with keen memories might recognize this as a counter-part to my last topic, where I asked how important physical appearance was to you. This topic is now asking now, if presented with the opportunity, would physical appearance be enough or would you sacrifice it to look for something else?)

This is gonna sound sexist no matter how I say it, but by your definition I've never met a NON-'Bimbo' man...with the exception of the 'Very physically attractive' part. Christ, I don't know whats in the water in Northeast PA.

Ok, please tell me why Bulma is considered a "bimbo"? (that IS bulma in the original post, right?)

She invents ridiculously portable capsule tech, AND invented an honest to god TIME MACHINE.

Yes, she lacks a bit of common sense at times, but she's definitely not a bimbo.

Anyway, if we're talking about "Looks like a model, cares way too much about looking hot and busty, isn't intelligent enough to have conversations about philosophical dilemmas and interpretations of video games and stuff" kind of woman...

PROBABLY not, but it depends. I can't rule it out completely, as people are more complicated that simple stereotypes most of the time.

I have 4 standards for women that are "Dateable" for me. Kindhearted, intelligent, reasonably open to nerdy things, and openminded about my innate weirdness. Looks are practically a non-factor into it for me, as I'm more of an emotional relationship person, not a physical one.

So, if said "bimbo" proposed by the TC showed up, and was kind, nerdy, totally cool with my weirdness, but isn't really that smart, I'm likely to be more open to it. Unless she's the type to spend all the incoming money on shoes every week without caring about the rent/essentials.

Doesn't sound like someone I could easily respect. So, no. I want to be with someone I think of as an equal. Anything else and I can't say I'd really feel as devoted to them.

I don't think so, but it's kind of difficult because "Bimbo (or male equivalent)" isn't really well-defined.

There are lots of different ways to be intelligent, and if I already had feelings for the person, I doubt I would think of them as a bimbo no matter what.
But if I met someone I thought was vapid, even if I thought they were attractive, I don't think I would consider dating them.
I'm not sure what a dude would have to do for me to consider them vapid, though.

Yeah probably, as the post that I hope is still above me says, there are lots of different ways to be intelligent. I feel like calling someone a bimbo and flipping them off is selling them kind of short. So yeah, as someone who has never been in a relationship ever, I'd consider it.

Honestly, I have no idea. It disappeared when everybody got made into a Premium Member, which is apparently going to be fixed, and I hope it comes back when it's fixed or I'll have to find a new Sailor Jupiter one because I don't think I have it saved anywhere.
So I'm just going to wait until I'm not Premium any more and go from there.

Stuff went weird and a bunch of us got upgraded to premium for no damn reason.

Which replaces our avatars. And I don't really feel like fishing around in my oversized images folder for that same sonic pic.

Anyway, I'd be shocked to hear you recognize me or my avatar. I barely post here anymore. XD

Bimbo? What a prudish term : P

Honestly, I'd be open to dating someone as long as their caring individuals and we share the same interests.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's Maron [http://dragonball.wikia.com/wiki/Maron].

OT: ... Maybe? I don't know, I guess it depends on the person. I mean, I don't think I'm so easily controlled by my primal instincts that I would be purely drawn to someone based on attraction alone. Similarly, I don't think I'd be so condescending to dismiss someone's intelligence were it not immediately apparent.

It depends on how much their bimboness would irritate me. I assume not all dimwitted, looks-focused bimbos are equal in personality. And it's the personality, I would think, that determines whether or not I'll get along with someone.

Anybody who has logged in within the past six months and doesn't have a health bar in the red got free PubClub. Those people had their avatar go to default because PubClub members can have bigger avatars.
So I guess we know who is naughty and who is nice on the forums now...

Nope, that type tend to annoyed me. It doesn't matter how hot they are but making a stupid comment irritate me to no end therefore any chance of a date/ marriage will be failure.

Well ok yes I am willing to change/ tolarate if she is well meaning (good intention in mind kinda like one of Brain exs from Family Guy) but when I think of bimbo, I think of the nasty kind (the sexy girl in school but means to everyone beneath her).

No, I can't say I would date the male equivalent of a bimbo. While I'm not going to be a fool and say physical attraction doesn't matter, I don't want to get into a relationship that I know well ahead of time won't last. If the guy I'm dating isn't moderately intelligent then I know I would eventually just get bored so there's no way I'd be able to date a male Bimbo in good confidence. I'd gladly have a male Bimbo as a friend, but I wouldn't view them as dating material.

Oh. You're right. I only saw her show up once so I kinda forgot she existed.

Yeah, now I remember her. Yeah, holy crap, would not date someone that dumb. I remember the old guy giving her a refresher episode about kid goku beating up the entire "red ribbon army", and her whole takeaway was "oh, so krillin is buying me a nice red ribbon and that's why he's late!" x_x

That's just beyond the pale.
