For me yes. If your not willing to die for it, then why live there? You obviously don't love it there very much.
What do you mean by "die for your country" anyway? Are you suggesting some hypothetical situation where my country would dissolve like the old Soviet Union if I say no? Would my country be physically destroyed if I said no? Are you talking about getting killed by the enemy whilst serving in the military? I don't understand the question.
Hahah, I like the way that between us, we have questioned what the "dying" part of the OP meant, AND what the "country" part meant.

Anyone want to question the meaning of the word "would" in this context?
Heh, why not, does he mean a situation wherein a direct choice is offered (i.e. gun to the head, what would you do) or does he mean a willingness to "die for your country" but not a certainty of actually dieing (e.g. the willingness to die shown by the military)?

It's funny how these old sayings don't really make any sense when you think about them.

I would if I was literally defending it. But I wouldn't every participate in an offense. I'm content with my country, but wouldn't die for it. I think it's not worth dying over, it's a good country, but not THAT good.

England btw.

No, because dying is a stupid thing to do. Also, I don't see the point of dying before I can do anything useful. Although I probably wouldn't do anything for the country besides pay taxes and such. Yep I'm one of *those* americans...

For my country, well that's very doubtful since I do not condone killing or war and also it's kind of stupid if you think about it, but to save another person I think I would though who am I kidding I probably wouldn't I mean I lack the ability to react to any kind of situation I mean when I was in that quake a fan almost fell over me and I just kept going like nothing happened so I'm gonna say that I probably wouldn't die to save anybody or my country, I would probably just get killed in the crossfire for acting like nothing was happening even though there were explosions beside me.

Absolutely not. Hell, I wouldn't die for anything or anyone short of my immediate family. I want to live.

It would depend on how dire the need was. In a world war two type situation, then I'd like to think I would, i.e. I would die to defend my country from an evil and insidious invading force. I would not, however, die for some bullshit cause just because it was for my country.

I think I'd rather die for freedom, which is something I think the UK is one of the great champions of.

America happens to be the place that I was born in, and currently reside. I appreciate it for being comparatively great to some other countries, but I don't feel any love for the idea of the country itself. Given the choice between life and death, I'd choose the former so I can skedaddle on home to Equestriadaily.

What do you mean by that? If you mean will I risk my life for my nation and put myself in harms way to protect it? Hell yeah, Id be going in the wrong profession if I wasn't. If you mean like a suicide no chance out mission I would definitely say no. I am okay with risks, just not suicide runs.

If my country was being invaded, then yes I would fight to defend it. That's the only scenario I can think of that would involve me fighting for it.

i would rather live for my country.

The mark of the immature man is that he wants to die nobly for a cause, while the mark of a mature man is that he wants to live humbly for one.

I live in Belgium, so hell no. There are many good reasons to live here and most of the time I like it a lot, but our government is a total mess. Plus, between the two main "factions" here there isn´t even a tiny sense of unity. They basically hate each other.

To everyone saying no, does that mean that you wouldn't try to fight off an invading force?

Yes I absolutely would, I support it, and no matter what crap it has done, it still supported me and let me become awesome enough to post here, ok not on subject but still, I would die for my country and citizens so that we can still have the ideals we have now

You pay for me to move and i'll be gone in a flash.

Be a bit of a way to travel to watch Liverpool play but ahh well, sacrifices must be made.

I wouldn't die over a country. For ideals maybe, but those are not tied to pieces of ground.
