Suppose you had the option to change into a different race for as long as you wanted, be it a day or the rest of your life. Would you? Why or why not?

I've always found this an interesting question. Personally, I'd like to see what it's like to be black, at least for a while.

I look forward to reading your responses.

I'm not sure what the point of this question is... It's like asking if we would change our eye or hair color if we could.

I mean, everyone here KNOWS what it's like to be black -- it's exactly like being white, except with a lot more racism and prejudice thrown it. It's not really a hugely different way to experience life, so all you're really asking is "would you like to face a lot more/less racism in your life or rather not?"

No. I like what I am, and to change it now would be such a suddent thing that no one would know me or understand why.

Maybe, since then I could try pulling this shit for fun:
Still only for a little while though. I see no reason to change my ethnicity.

I would try it temporarily. There's one group of people I've, well quite frankly hated, for quite sometime (I won't say whom for risk of starting a comment war) But I'd want to see what it was like to be in their shoes for awhile, maybe then it'd change my opinion.

Not necessarily. I mean, yeah, there is still plenty of latent racism in our society, but taht isn't going to be the only difference. People react differently to different races, and not necessarily in a racist fashion. It's a matter of "walking a mile in another man's shoes".

pretty much this. a better question might be "would you like to have grown up in a different country?"

also... part of my captcha appears to be in Hebrew. veddy strange.
