Well, if he's still alive, and also my buddy, I might have some reservations.

If he was dead, and I was going to die myself, you bet your ass I would.

If he was merely sentient I'd eat him. I eat sentient beings every single day.

If he was sapient I wouldn't eat him. That'd be too close to cannibalism.

Assuming that the alien was perfectly safe to eat, yes, of course I would. My own life is vastly more important to me than the life of any alien. It would no doubt be super gross, but if my survival was at stake then I would not hesitate.

If he died before me, sure.
I'd rather do something repulsive and survive than die.
Survival outweighs ethics.
Also, never-mind the 'alien' bit; I'd do it if it was a human.

We'll get out of that pickle together. If I'm stranded with him/her/it, I'm sure I'd be rather attached, after all. And if he/she/it dies, I'm giving it a decent burial, too. Being sapient isn't worth nothing if you're not going to act like it. Being a jackal is probably awesome at times, but I'm not a jackal.

Don't worry, Xv'irrk'l, I won't eat you...
