I still play Heroes of Might & Magic, so maybe.
I mean, I've never gotten to the ending in those games. I either get too tired for being in the same game for 50 min or something better shows up.

Dude. I enjoyed JRPGs, but never finished them ALL THE FUCKING TIME.

I've played, enjoyed, and not beaten any Final Fantasy game. But I've played them all.

I just have to say

"Never finished them all the fucking time" that sentence made no sense..

Anyway, I do enjoy alot of games I dont finish. For example, Morrowind and Fallout 2.

Let's say someone made a new game, and it was everything you wanted out of a game. It has good gameplay, a good story, good graphics, etc. It's an all-round enjoyable experience. Unfortunately, there's one problem: You can't finish it.

Halfway through the game, you just hit a point you can't get past, and you never will be able to get past it. Whether it's because it gets really hard at that point, because a bug stops your progress, or just because the gods of gaming have placed a curse on you, this one great game will be one you will never (no matter what, so no outside help or patches will aid you) be able to finish. You'll never see the last levels, you'll never see the final boss, and you'll never see the conclusion to the story.

To be clear, I'm not talking about games that don't have a real ending, like MMOs or sandbox games. I'm talking about a game that has a clearly defined ending that you will never be able to reach. You'll get stuck halfway, and no matter how much you try you'll never get past that point.

If you knew all of this in advance, would you still enjoy the game?
It's called Knights of the Old Republic 2: The Sith Lords. :)

Rushed through development, game didn't really have an ending, bunch of stuff got left out. Still had a blast with it.

Possible. If the game is good, I'l enjoy it, even if I never finish it. Heck, there are tons of games I never finished and I still have them in fond memory.

I never finished BioShock. Bah.

It was still a great game though, but it dulled. I've been meaning to play for awhile now.

I already don't finish games, but that's missing the point. I COULD if i put enough time into it so would completely pass on this game.

Yeah, if it was an open world game I'd just complete forget about the main story like I usually due and get lost in the side quests.

It would be really frustrating to me to be progressing to the game and then to just come to a stopping point like that. I wouldn't go through it.

reminds me of xenogears. still one of my favorite games of all time, but the second disc is a huge let down. the gameplay just stops, and the main characters sit in a rocking chair and read you a book. that is not a joke or hyperbole, the main characters are litterally sitting in a chair and reading you a book. the book is preatty good, and the first half is terrific, but still.

I went with "...give it a try. Sure I'll get pissed when I get stuck, but at least I'll have the bits before that." but "I'll get pissed" would probably be a *major* understatement. I think it would leave me extremely frustrated, if I couldn't finish a game. Mass Effect 2 is the one that comes to mind because it's the one I've been playing lately, but with ME2's story, I would be very, very, very upset if I couldn't reach the end. That being said, I'd still play it and keep trying to find a way to finish it, if only for the sense of completion (if not accomplishment).

I still play tetris...so yes.
Couldn't have said it better myself, I still play Tetris to this day but can't exactly say the same about Quake for example.

Especially in the case of:

because I would still believe that it was possible to finish it. Obviously if there was a bug then I would consider that the end and therefore most likely stop playing. However if it was "everything that I wanted out of a game" I would probably replay it long in to the future.

Thats a thinker. I guess I would give it a try. I HATE getting stuck on shit like that. If I do I usually end up working my ass off to find patches and fixes. If I knew beforehand it was unbeatable. Yea I would probably still play it. I usually like the first half of the game more then the second half anyway.

As long as there were things to do then I wouldn't mind if it never ended. If it can be kept fresh for long enough then it doesn't matter about an ending in my eyes.
