Like no doubt many people I'd burn a book for heat maybe light.
Mass produced books have little value and are mass produced so in no danger of being lost forever.

No. There's no good reason behind snuffing out the ideas of someone. Even mass murderers and rapists.

Uh, I don't get the question? Do books have human rights now? I would burn a book if the situation calls for it.

If burning the book gave me a bigger advantage in any way over not burning it then of course, why not. If you mean just for no reason then no, no point.

To all those pulling quotes against the burning of books: You're quoting from a different time when those words had a different meaning to the situation.

If Oscar Wilde ever got ahold of Snookis/Biebers/Gagas biography, he'd buy a flamethrower.

Also, how about just scanning them into a pdf? Space saving and more people have access to it, therefor raising the chances of them surviving.

I would never burn a book for its content. I would however, burn a book because it is made paper, which is very flammable. If the option is me and the last copy of the greatest piece of literature written in the history of forever, everywhere, written on paper? It probably won't last long after my death anyways. Better to burn and give me heat for one more day.
Oh, I would also burn anything mass-produced, but falling apart, 'cuz, I dunno, we found a box of old romance novels in the cottage and there's a fire pit outside and we need paper to build up the flame. Or something.
And I've cut up books for artistic purposes, using parts of pages in mix media projects. But only if the book is falling apart and I have no attachment to it. Even shitty books, if new, I'd rather turn into a second hand bookstore for the pennies per book I would get. The stuff even they won't take? Meh, I could care less. But never, ever would I burn a book for its content.

My philosophy book. I am a dude that likes to go straigh to the point. I hate going around a subject without having a specified objective.

Philosophy was the hardest class i ever had to endure for this reason. The moment i knew i had done it i burned it down with a smile on my face.

I don´t approve the whole burning stuff "just because"... but i needed it that badly lol

(and it wasn´t a book if i remember correctly but my notebook that i used to study :S)

There isn't very many realistic reasons for me to burn a book but I would do so if I had to.
