I guess it could work in theory because there isn't much of a story to warhammer 40k unless you read wikipedia. It would at least need some writers familiar with the series and maybe like Peter Jackson directing it. Maybe then it would be alright.
Just as somehting for the writer bit, if anyone has read the Dan Abnett books, might not have spelt that right but anyways he would be awesome for the writers position.

As a side note has anyone thought that a Horus Heresy movie would be a better choice then a DoW?
I love Dan Abnett best DOW writer ever.
I also like the Idea of the Horus Heresy but you couldn't title it like that no-one else would get it. Thats why I suggested DOW for the tittle, not a storyline based on the games just a title.
Much as I would love to see the Heresy on the silver screen, backstory to the tabletop might be a little too geeky for the uneducated masses.

I would lvoe a 40k movie as long as I wasn't forced to side with the Space Marines, but that is what would probably happen to hit the biggest market.

Also I think the word Warhammer in the title would put ALOT of people off.

It's been one page, and all that stuff I typed is already forgotten? I can understand if people didn't like it, but not even a comment or discussion?

I weep.

I think it would be awesome, I love the intro movies to DoW and Dark Crusade, (I watch them every time I start the game up) and if the movies were anything similar to them I'd go see it.

Sorry, action scene on film = awesome. Action scene described in words = Taldeer. Or at least 'get 3 lines in and then FPS addled brain quits'.

I did write much about the film, as well as games Ideas. Hence my weepage.

This is an internet forum (really, it is!), anything more than a couple of short paragraphs and brains shut down. You're reading a screenplay to a bunch of people that want a quick powerpoint presentation at most.

I'm well aware of the logistics, and I despair at them. Plenty of forums have posts like that as the minimum standard, threads like this benefit when people add content.

They benefit when people add content in a way that stimulates debate amongst the audience. Play to your audience and media. Sad fact is, anything else is probably going to be a waste of effort.

I like these ideas but there are a couple of things Im a bit unsure of #1 what do you mean by turning Loken into a protomarine,#2 Arnt the Crimson Fists set up after the HH?

Also I like the way you have done the films along with books but how about this 1st film:The first three books showing us how Horus was made Warmaster and how he became tainted ending on the battle of Isstvan III,

2nd film:I agree with having Flight of the Einstein but would it start like the book mainly from the viewpoint of the remembrencers and of how the Imperial Faith was created? but how about adding Fulgrim into the mix with the deaths and tainting of the Primarchs and the destruction of 3 of the Legions ending with the Living Saint arriving on the moon and them forming the Inquisiton.

Now comes the hard part like you said the attack on Terra is needed to end it but to my knowledge there are no books detailing it apart from Horus invades Mars goes to Terra fights Emperor they both die so unless you added somthing like Mechanicum which I have not read yet or continue from when the Horus dies to when the Chaos legions go into the Eye of Terror.

Sorry UJ, I read what you wrote but actually went a different way with my own thoughts (indeed I both agree and disagree with your entire post - agree that that is what we need, disagree that that is what we need for a warhammer movie). Specifically, I always felt that, say, Firewarrior wasn't going to make a good movie. Something missing from the movie scene these days (and indeed games) is what the old "Escape from New York/LA" movies had, and also what Doom had.

"Go somewhere. Kill stuff. Get objective. Kill more stuff. Win."

How many games these days can you pick up a chain saw, run into a room, and just kill stuff. Halo with the flood when you first see them maybe, but where is the pulse pounding blood rushing action. We don't need another movie following a single faction, man or race - like the games, we have those. What we don't have is a proper holy crap kill them all and look awesome flick - something that encapsulates the sheer grim darkness and horror of the distant future.

That, at least, is my $0.02AU. YMMV.

I still think I like Ultrajoes Idea the best
my thought was a three part series
1: Creation of the Primarchs than finding them after they were scattered
2: The great Crusade
3: Horus
unfortunately I failed to grasp how large a plot each of those story's had
each one of those could probably be a trilogy

I also wanted to through out the idea of an Imperial guard miniseries

Sure, as long as they take the universe and uses whats good in it, and doesn't try to stick to whatever kind of story the game has (haven't played it)

Make it an epic war-story sort of thing like LotR.

Also, was 300 all CG? Sure you're not thinking of Beowulf? The possibillity of you beeing right dazzles me with amazement of what CG can accomplish
