So North America hasn't been discovered yet and you have the option of going sailing with a crew to go see whats out past the horizon. Do you?

I would like to say I would have, but probably not in the first wave of explores. I'd have waited to see what they find first.

I'm not really the Exploring type...more the "Quiet adviser to Royalty" type. So no, I'd probably be sat in England dishing out wisdom.

Go sailing with a crew? F-U-C-K N-O.

Why, you might ask? Firstly, it will probably take at least 1 month until I'd actually discover America, meaning 1 month of facing storms and fearing everytime a cloud appears on the horizont that I won't see my homeland again, giving speeches so that my ment don't kill me an sail back home, deal with hunger and the "needs" a man has.

Secondly, I have motion sickness. I would spend the first 2 weeks vommiting then the rest 2 feeling like shit.

Let me put it like this: If we manage to make Mars habitable within my lifetime, I don't care if I'm 50, 90, on my deathbed or whatever. I WILL be on the first shuttle of colonists!

I would have been an adventurer in the old medieval sense.

You know, going around, slaying things for money.

I kid. I probably would've attempted to become a knight, what with my chivalrous ways.

You mean on a boat with lots of men or in the cabins with lots of men. I'll get to work with lots of men... Think I'll pass.

Hmm... at first it sounds intriguing, but then if you think that how are the things on the ship. Many weeks on the sea with very unhygiene and possibly lewd atmosphere (well, not exactly a good word for this, but you know what I mean). I would go there if I could brush my teeth, change clothes, bath and avoid scurvy.

Lemme at em! Wait, I'm a woman...Damn. Well, looks like I'd be stuck making babies and catching the plague or whatever. Would have liked to have gone though.

Or been a pirate. Americashould have been discovered by pirates. that would have been more fun (in the romanticised sense, real pirates would probably have been pretty brutal)

But no, not during that era, too much scurvy and all that. I'd be a pirate though, you don't have to stray too far off-coast for that, I could just hop islands in the Caribbean. Yes I know that's cheesy, but that place is warm and nice.

But I'd rather be an explorer of the new sciences in the 19th century, including posh British accent, monocle and all that. Delightful tinkering, wonderful new devices, wrench wenches...yes I'm a steampunk fanboy, sue me.

By and large, the mortality rate for adventurers is rather high, but go right ahead if that's what floats your boat.

Really, it's not that we've run out of frontiers to explore. Look up.
