Ok. I just have to show this, one of my fave artists of Deviantart Nebezial did this version of Tali, actually based on his wife's design. Their urls are part of the picture.

I'm not a huge Tali fan, but I really like the design, and since her Bioware approved look is so controversial... well, do you like this better?

(and yes I included an option just for some of you who hate all this ME3 talk)

Yes, although I like that photoshop that's been floating around the internet for some time even better.

It's certainly better, but let's be honest, that's not terribly hard given that the image we have of Tali isn't exactly based on a unique racial concept, which is was especially damning in this case due to how much effort the character designers had put into other races. We saw unique and well differentiated races - both striking and memorable - across the board. We saw Batarians, Elcor, Volus, Rachni, Krogan, Salarians, Turians, Hanar, Vorcha, Drell, Protheans and Asari, all unique, all instantly recognizable. Seriously my hat is off to the people who developed the races because they made a very diverse galaxy. And then we get...this for the Quarians? Sorry but no, that looks less like a unique race than it does a human with cybernetic implants who had a bad accident in woodshop class. To me, that's the real sticking point about that picture, it looks far too similar to humans, with even the Asari (without question the most humanlike race before this reveal) look far more alien than Tali's picture did, which makes it all the more surprising that nobody in-game mentions the similarity, with the Quarians and Asari being the two most likely candidates for a double-take reaction.

I have to say though, I would be disappointed with the above image as well, as it seems derivative of the Asari's design, which we can't justify with common descent due to how the two races aren't even based in the same amino acids.

Yeah, it could work. The eyes need to glow a bit more and personally I would meld the appendages on her head into the hair to make it look like someone could waltz over and rip her face off. Still very good work.

Pass my compliments to the chef.

Personally, I was hoping they'd go for something like this

Just to see the reactions of all the talimancers.

Maybe they do and maybe Tali just gave Shepard the picture of the human woman so that he wouldn't be totally freaked out.

Yup, that pic is definitely better than the one in ME3. However, I'm in the camp of people who don't really care what Tali looks like. If anything, I would have preferred they left the whole thing as a mystery, have the speculation of her appearance as something that will be discussed for a long time after the trilogy was done.

I saw a more well done photoshop of the same image used in the game and I thought it looked a lot better just by having them fix the hand and such. A small bit of time makes a big difference. I think it has way less to do with what she looks like and the obvious lack of effort that went into it.

Admittedly, yes I do like this picture better. Looks better without human looking hair.

Personally I'm gonna say no, because this picture looks too much like an Asari fused with Kerrigan from SCII. That isn't to say the picture Bioware chose is very good, but the one OP provided just puts me off...

It's a bit Asari/Turianesque, what with the head-flaps, but at least this Tali looks more like an alien, and less like a shitty photoshopped stock image.

Frankly, I don't see why Tali's face ever had to be a secret at all; it didn't really add anything to the story. If the first game had just had a two-minute scene of her with the mask off, maybe talking to Shepard while repairing her suit in a clean room or something, it would never have gotten to be the HUGE FREAKING DEAL that it turned into.

Better than the one they used, but she looks too... slimy.... Maybe I'm just looking at it wrong.
