Poll: Would you kill an infant if it meant saving the lives of a large group of people?

Ever see the movie 'The Pianist'? In that film about the Jews and Nazi Germany, it has a scene where a guy says "...she smothered her baby to keep it from crying..." when the night before the Germans started raiding homes and killing ANYONE they found to be a problem. For example: The Germans enter a home at night and make the family stand at attention, then they kill the grandfather because he can't get out of his wheelchair to stand.

In the worst times in life/history, it is horrible and most likely a scarring moment on anyone, but many people would choose that option to save themselves and others. At the same time from the way you phrased it, if nobody killed the crying child, then everybody would be killed.

So I would say that 'Yes' I would, yet it'd be something I'd never be able to forget as it would haunt me for life.

There are many situations where I would do things for survival that I would never consider in day to day life.
I am completely aware of this fact about myself and have expressed this in a few conversations before only to have other people look at me like I was a monster.

Depends. The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few. Unless you know those few.
It all comes down to the relationship dynamics of the group and the individuals.
My baby? "Sorry everyone, you touch my kid and I'll tear your throat out. I'm taking my kid and high-tailing it outta here, good luck to the rest of you!"
Someone else's baby? "Sorry 'bout this, but it's in the best interest of the group!"

In the given situation, never. I would never take away someones right to live in a situation where it is not needed.

If it was 100%, can't do a thing about it, kill a baby or let a group live then I would take away the right to live from one person then the right to live of a group of people.

I've voted for NO, because, this is the thing. In this case we have to be logical, well, logic tells me i have to shut up the baby, that can be done in many ways, and any of them implies to kill him, mabe the baby can die during the process but my intention was not to kill him, that's why i said NO.

Hrm. Enemy soldiers eh? Killing my people, eh? I'd create a distraction and let the nineteen others and the ***** baby try to escape. I'd rather die than kill anyone just for a slightly better chance of survival (Unless the person I was killing is my enemy).

Anyways, I'd rather die knowing at least I tried saving people instead of that dead baby on my back. Think long term people! We all die someday, do you want to die thinking of that whiny baby you bashed with a rock or that enemy soldier with the shock and fear in his eyes as you bite out his throat!

it's called having a desire to live, most animals have it with people it's just really having the balls to stand up for yourself because society is a big mean bully with the collective iq of a lemon and coke vodka shot
and has no freaking clue what an individual or group's needs are
