I was thinking about something that a friend said that I've seen pop up every now and then. It basically boils down to that it seems people would rather a person be a smart and "evil" than be a normal flawed human being or even a stupid person who means well.(i.e Walt Disney,or W. Bush)
This train of thought somehow led me to this question. If it was in my power would I allow the Devil to exist just so God could? Or alternatively if you could somehow create God would you do it if it also created the Devil.

I decided I would rather have a random world where people decide their own fate than be the playthings of a God or a Devil. So yes i Iwould kill the devil If it killed God. Was wondering what others would do though.

Some ground rules
Lets use the pop culture version of the devil/god relation basically two equally as powerful beings one who wants "good" and the other "evil".

This is a hypothetical question try not to prove or disprove whether these beings actually exist in our reality.

Lets assume that the world would continue to exist for as long as it would have with a god.(I overlooked this one)

Depends on the metaphysical implacations
What if the world is a figmant of gods imagination, and by destroying god, would the world stop exisiting?

Well, I don't wanna have to write their checks and not see any results. Sure, let's get somebody more proactive to fill their positions.

that is an interesting question I'm not sure because in some cases getting rid of divine beings doesn't change much and sometimes it screws up a lot of things, destruction and mayhem are the result and of course you have the places in the middle

I'd get rid of both. I'm not really attached to the idea of God, so it's an easy sell.

Assuming that God exists and He did bring the universe into being through sheer force of will, then it's probable that His continued existence is also holding reality together.

So, no. I wouldn't kill God. Because that would be stupid.

This is a great read.

OT: Yes. First, I don't believe in god. Second, if there is a god, near as I can see he ain't doin' shit for us. Third, if god resembles his biblical self in any way, he's really more of a devil already.

Alrighty then. Assuming either one exists in some abstract form and then materialized here, I'd have them both killed. That way theological debate can move on to other issues, man can begin to fully acknowledge our achievements instead of attributing them to a deity, "God is dead" can be a literal statement, and I get my Godslayer achievement.

Form a practical standpoint I don't see a difference. This universe already acts as if there is no god. A god that is there that acts like he is not is no different for one that's just not there.

So basically I don't care.

Hehe, there's actually a game which ends in you killing the devil and god also vanishing with him to allow humans to be free from religion and stand on their own feet. Love them Jrpgs.
