As a big fan of the Syphon Filter series, especially the 3 PS One games I'm very disappointed with the lack of regard Sony has shown for the franchise!
With only 1 native game for the PS 2 (focused on online co-op) and 2 "good" PSP games, Sony refused to bring the franchise to the current gen, relegating it to the mobile consoles.
Are you a fan of the series? Would you like to see it come to next gen? Or do you not even know what Syphon Filter is?
For me, the first three games, despite being very similar, were great experiences that i still enjoy playing today!

Oh man, Syphon Filter. I remember it back from PS1 era. These games were freaking awesome, although I remember fuckall about the plot.
Getting a remake on new hardware would be nice indeed.

I agree with this proposition so much I can't even expressive the affirmative in a normal sense. So in the essence of Ice Cube I'll just say... "A' YEAAH-YEAHHHEEE!!"

By the lords, yes! Yes I would indeed! I recently bought Syphon Filter 1 off of the PSN Store and I'm having a blast with it so far. Rhomer's helicopter is a lot harder than I remember it being. XD

I only ever played the first game on PS1 but it was a boat load of fun at the time, if a 3rd person shooter was enjoyable on PS1 hardware then surely it should produce a euphoric high on current hardware.

Air taser in HD ... yeah, I'm sold! Seriously though, had a blast with those games as a kid, so much so I stole 2 and Omega Strain from a friend of mine. lol At least the series is still alive somewhat, thought it was dead entirely after Omega Strain.

So I'm guessing the SF games, judging by the responses here are generally thought of as good titles?

When I played the demo for the first one back on Pizza Huts demo disc I was far too young to be swept up in game polotics of any sort, and thus I was very unbiased towards the game. I sucked at it, but I still played it fairly frequently and I remember enjoying it for the most part. Seemed to be Tomb Raider with more guns and less BS jumps and animal ambushes.

I miss using the taser in some random enemy until it's catching fire.

So yeah, I would be on board on a Syphon Filter Sequel\Remake\Reboot

Nah, it's too bland. I enjoyed Omega Strain, and have Dark Mirror (was that a SF game even?) but I could never get into the PSX ones.

It would be a lot like Splinter Cell conviction I think. Then again I'm a bit out of my element with these two franchises.

Who would make it? Cause if you're gonna bring it back only to be handled by some third tier studio, then I'd rather they don't bother.

Also, I don't know. Syphon Filter was a fun arcadey shooter that played well enough, but in the current market I'm afraid it would just get lost in the sea of mediocre third-person action shooters.

It wouldn't even be lost amongst, it would almost assuredly become one.

Cover system, military industrial complex/terrorist story, uninspired multiplayer.
You KNOW this would happen.

Yep. It would take a fucking miracle to avoid that.

I don't remember too much from Syphon Filter except the run controls being very nice and tazing dudes into flambe. Maybe if they went the MGS: Revengeance direction, with a concentration on speed, running, and dodging - Foregoing any sort of cover mechanic.

Well it could end up being a generic third person shooter but if they worked hard on it (it would have to be a FIRST party game) and borrowed a few ideas from Splinter Cell, it could become something special. They should also work harder on the plot, maybe even go a little MEtal Gear on the game and make some twists... Make it interesting not just dumb shooting!

The Psp games received good reviews and yes, they were both syphon filter canon...

Well thanks for the votes and for taking the time to let me know what you think guys ;)

I'm not 100% sure what syphon filter is anymore. I mean, don't get me wrong, I enjoyed it on ps1. But I'd have to see what their current-day rendition of it would be, first.

It also depends on how many people I'd get to tazer. If no tazers exist that set people on fire I'll be pretty miffed. Miffed I tell you!

Eh maybe if they made it as a Shadow Complex/Metroid style downloadable title for the PS4. I can't imagine a AAA Syphon Filter game being anything but generic as fuck.

I haven't voted in the poll but only because I've only ever played Syphon Filter 1 on the PSX. I fell in love with the demo as a kid but didn't get it until about 1 or 2 years ago. I haven't beaten it yet but I've loved what I've played. I do want more Syphon Filter and I want modern, home-console Syphon Filter but when I say that I want Syphon Filter all I mean is "I want to play a game wherein I am a SWAT-style officer with a magically-powerful tazer that sets people ON FIRE"

I'm in the same boat when I say I want more Colony Wars (specifically on the PS4)

Now there is a game that would suit the new action or stealth approach they are taking with Splinter Cell.

I would love nothing more than to see this series return! Gabe is one of my absolute favourite gaming protagonists and damn it I would love to see him back again. Hopefully with his original voice intact.

I would also hope that they wouldn?t try and aim for modern gritty photo realistic visuals and would instead stick with the stylised visuals from the first two.
I know what you?re thinking. How could you possibly think those were stylised visuals back in those days? Well holding it up to games that were aiming for realism back then it?s pretty obvious they weren?t even going to kid themselves in bothering to attempt chasing after realism in the slightest.

It would also be nice if they did do a proper Syphon Filter 4, that they completely ignore everything that happened after 3.
