The title basically sums up my point here, but to expand a bit, here is some exposition:

It being the school holidays, the places where I normally need to be are now somewhat more full of children than I would appreciably expect. Having discussed this with a few coworkers, I decided to test the notion with the escapist community (probably a bit biased, but even so) whether or not a city where no children would be allowed would be a workable notion.

The rules are:

No children are to be allowed anywhere within city limits. If you wish to see younger relatives, you do it outside of city limits. Childhood is defined in this case as being under 18 years of age. And yes, teenagers are assholes. I was a teenager, and I was an asshole. Now I'm still an asshole, but I really put effort into not allowing myself to just be an asshole.
Birth control/ contraception is to be provided in abundance, just to be on the safe side.
Maternity or Paternity will be rewarded with having to move out. Companies will be required to find a position for employees to relocate in the event parenthood looms, and the duration of the pregnancy is expected to be enough time for both mother and father to get sorted and go.
There is no need for parental guidance or age restrictions, as anyone within broadcast range is assumed to be over 18. ID can still be asked for for age restricted sales, just to keep people in the habit of it, but is really unnecessary.

More rules will be added as I think of them, or as they are brought up in the thread.

The male and female options are really to see what gender ratios would be like in the city. Ideally, I would like to see if this would be a viable suggestion. If you have any opinions, feel free to discuss them.

I'm aware this has probably been done before, so please do not point this out to me.

Children can be fucking annoying, but I think its silly to believe you should be able to live your adult life without interacting with any. You put your parents and everyone around you through hell when you were child. Time to suck it up and pay your due! Children keep our species alive.

Uh, yeah, I suppose.

I wouldn't really have a preference either way. I wouldn't consider it a bonus, but if there was a good reason to live there then the no kids thing wouldn't put me off.

No, I wouldn't.

I could go in depth on why this would be a bad idea in general but since you're not really asking me for that, I'll just say I'd avoid living in a place like that.
The OP may not have been asking for that, but I wouldn't mind hearing your reasoning, in depth or otherwise.

EDIT: Double post. The horror.

I love kids - I'm just not sure I want my own. I love watching them play and getting smiles and waves from the neighbour kids when I come home. I love working with kids.

How about a city with no one between the ages of 18-25 allowed? They're the ones who drive like assholes and throw parties and keep me awake. Kids go to sleep. That age group doesn't, especially when University isn't in session.

I can picture it now...

Yes, gladly. I hate kids. They are annoying and useless.

Or you can show your parents and everyone around you a finger and tell them to go **** themselves, you're not going through that :p (yes, I'm prefectly fine with being ungrateful bastard)

I would pay double my current rent.

Children can be really annoying, and there is nothing I hate more than encountering a little bastard shouting its heart out in a supermarket or shop. Also no-one would have to think of the children so stuff like weed shops, strip clubs, and casinos etc wouldn't have to be hidden away.

Well... when I was working, I was a nursery nurse. So, no.
I'd have no job and no possibilty of one unless it was a long commute. And honestly commuting sucks.

Plus, kids are great. I don't see why everyone bitches about them so much.

Since that would be the primary age group that would move there, you'd probably get your wish.

I just got "HULK SMASH" as my captcha

I would say primarily because if an adult is loud, screaming, throwing things around or being a general pain in the ass, you're perfectly within your rights to tell them to shut up and go the fuck away.
When children do same things the parents who don't control them act like you're the asshole.

Case in point, at one point I saw a random child walk into the staff section of a shop by the tills and the parent making no effort whatsoever to make them move.

Maybe my problem is with asshole parents, but it's more difficult to enforce the no asshole parents thing.

Well then... nuke everyone? Hell, I don't know.
That's stupid. A more eco friendly way would be to all line up in a big circle and on a prearranged signal, cap the person to your right. Then the survivors form another circle and repeat.

I get the feeling the place would turn into Asshole City.

Yeah, kids can be annoying, but to live in a city where they're outlawed?

Jesus fucking Christ

Sorry but no, children are NOT some kind of chaotic ahole waiting to explode in a city and also a city is NOT like a fancy restaurant!

Sure children are noisy and whatnots but sometime I can tolarate it especially when they had been pouring into work lately cos of Summer holiday (I work in a cheap store while also include toys and summer toys aswell).

Because they make a nuisance of themselves, wreck shit, complain constantly, make loud screeching noises, and cost a damn fortune.

Go watch an episode of My Super Sweet 16 or a few Maury Povich's. Best. Birth control. EVER.
People do all those things, and other people's kids don't cost you anything directly.

I don't see why people are so hung up about kids.
Kids usually don't know any better (at least the kids of the age I work with), but adults know better and are usually worse.

Not saying kids cant be grating, but that usually involved some stupidity on the part of the parents.
