Well...yes and no. While kids can be annoying, obnoxious and completely intorelable little *****, there are some decent ones and I've worked as a tutor before, and teaching is fun when they want to learn - yes, even when the subject is math.

Yeah i would. My town is full of mothers with dopey little brats with pram or otherwise who walk too damn slow taking up the entire path. If its the pram scenario its the damn mother who needs to shift her rear into gear. Move it im a restless sod who can't stay in one place for too long!

Yeah i would be a shit miserble git of a dad.

I don't see why not. I already live a thousand miles away from the rest of my family, and having children at this point would be a pretty devastating blow to my career and everything I've worked for so far. I've gone my whole adult life without much interaction with children, so it wouldn't mean much of a difference for me.

That said, the whole idea does seem a little creepy and unnecessary.

Sure. Kids don't annoy me as much as they do some other people, but I wouldn't say no to an area where there aren't any around.

Maternity or Paternity will be rewarded with having to move out.
I really don't want to bring this up but since this would be an issue...
What about rape victims? It doesn't seem fair that they'd have to move after a traumatic experience.
Also the OP reminds me of that South Park episode where the parents are so afraid of molesting their kids so they basically banish them from town.

Sure I would! We could even make the buildings out of cake and othr shit because they'll last about as long as the population.

Do kids really annoy people THAT much? Yes they can be noisy and a bit annoying, but I thought when we grew up from being small children ourselves that we gained a good temper and some bloody patience? Also the people that annoy me the most in my town are the confrontational dicks around the age of 18-25 who want to piss people off and just get under you skin. That's a lot worse to me because these people are aware of what they're doing and they want to make your day that bit worse. With children its a bit more endearing and tolerable, it's like they have their "Learner plates" on, but for social interaction.

How about you just move somewhere where people raise their kids to not pester strangers if it annoys you so much?

Nope.

Sure, kids can be annoying, but adults are fuck-off multiple thousands of time more annoying. Kids can be taught, kids learn. Adults tend to get more stubborn as they age, which is great if you live in nowhere.

In the blink of an eye.

I don't hate kids but I sure do hate being around 'em.

At least once per weekend I have some kid ringing my doorbell while I'm trying to sleep. If it's not "Get my ball from your backyard." It's buy my shitty candy so I can go to camp."

And they scream constantly. Just run up and down the cul de sac screeching like banshees.

Perhaps the most appealing prospect of living in Nokidsylvania is the added bonus of not having to deal with their shitty, self righteous parents.

Shitty adults are worse than shitty children, so no.

I'm not a huge fan of kids, but I don't "dislike" them as much as some. I suppose I enjoy peace and quiet, and most kids do not have the nuance or appreciation for that.. nor should they because they are kids and need to be able to act as such.

In a city with no children. Hm. It would be like living in a place with no birds. I'm not a bird fanatic or a bird-watcher, but I've come to notice a few things about the world in my young years, and if there are no birds where I'm at, there is something wrong with that place and I do not want to spend much time there. If a creature that can fly away at anytime chooses not to be somewhere, well... I choose the same.

I think some people are taking this thread just a smidgen too seriously, it's just a throwaway hypothetical. I don't like kids (I'm talking more of those 12 and under, teens vary from person to person) I don't have any particular desire to interact with them and I don't think anything in my day to day existence would be effected by their absence. So I voted yes.

The male and female options are really to see what gender ratios would be like in the city.
You do realise that's going to be thrown off by the fact that roughly 80% (if not more) users on this site are male? (That being said I think a city of no kids would be more enticing to those with a Y chromosome anyway.)

I'd be fine living there if I was alone, if I had a partner I wouldn't want to live there as I'd want children at some stage, and moving out before having them would be too much hassle.

I have kids, so no. Plus, my husband is a teacher, which requires kids, so double no. I think a city without kids would lose something.... but then again, I love kids and always have, so.

Indeed. However I support the establishment of such a city so we can encircle it in razor wire and excise it from functioning society.

No, the whole idea of turning a place into an "adults-only" paradise is stupid. You will only get a cynical adult perspective on everything. People have to remember that they were children once - and an absence of children will only lead people to be even more stupid and inconsiderate than they were before. I figure that only immature and bigoted (I won't call them childish, because that itself is not a negative) adults would live in such a city. It would not be a very nice place to live in. I have nothing against people who don't want to have kids. It's when people become hostile to children that there's a problem. For instance, I refuse to visit a restaurant which displays a blanket no-child policy, as it's probably run by assholes. If they're well behaved and not screaming at the top of their lungs, there is no problem.

Most kids are fine, the ratio of asshole:non-asshole is pretty much completely independent of age as far as I can tell. Even if it wasn't, that wouldn't excuse unfairly discriminating against an entire age group, the idea is repulsive. It saddens me that most males on this site would allow something like this, never mind actually choose to live there.
