Poll: would you lower the difficulty?

Generally I'll only turn down the difficulty if I encounter a ridiculous difficulty spike, the kind when if fells like it goes from hard to masochistic and then back to hard.

I remember lowering the difficulty on Ares in God of war.
He felt incredibly cheap and after what felt like a dozen battles I just went and EXPLODED easy mode on him.

ALMOST killing him 10 times can really piss you off.
Goddamned multi-armed bastard in a waaaaay too small arena.

I've yet to play a game that was too difficult for me to beat on the hardest difficulty without a bit of effort. When that day comes when I can't, I suppose I would.
