I've moved to Linux for all my work-related needs, but gaming will still be Windows-based due to my retro preferences.

I'm currently dual booting Ubuntu 11.10 and Windows XP. For games that work on Linux (either natively or through Wine) I use Ubuntu, and only switch to XP when necessary. Minecraft actually runs better for me on Linux.
I should note that I primarily play on a console, using the PC for exclusives only. If my PC were my main gaming box, I might be tempted to use Windows as my primary OS (although Ubuntu is really shiny...)

If all the games currently on Steam were to be made to run native in Linux, and it became a prime target on equal standing with Windows, yes, I would.
Until then, though, the sheer inconvenience of having to sacrifice access to past and future games for the sake of an OS will keep me with Windows 7.
Note, Windows 7. I'm getting a new laptop this fall, just before Windows 8 hits the market, and I intend to stick to Windows 7 for as long as I can. Hopefully by the time I need another upgrade, Windows 8's flaws will be well documented and fixed - or a new version of Windows will come along to replace it.

The only time i use Linux over windows is when I'm forced to for my forensic assignments to show different methods of recovering data and even then I hate the damn thing.
There's also the fact that practically all my programs are Windows/Mac only also makes me say no, just because someone slates an OS that isn't out yet and decides there going to make steam for linux does not mean I'm going to go jumping ship from the Windows ship. Hell I might not like 8's new design but I've tried both the dev preview and the RC version and they work fine, as well as 7 in fact so why would I jump ship?
And before anyone goes shouting 7 (and vista) are so controlling (e.g. UAC) you can disable things like that easily, there's no trickery, just options.

I've used Linux before, even built a box for it a few years ago to experiment on. It was alright, but it didn't win me over. Soon after that Windows 7 came out, I built a new gaming machine, and then bought a laptop since I travel a lot, and haven't looked back. I recently sold the Linux box to a tinfoil-hat type who lives in town.

Here's the turd in the punch bowl when it comes to steam trying to let games work on Linux. Valve doesn't even ensure games they throw up there fully work. This is especially apparent in the cases of "older" games that they still sell. So they create a way for games to work on the native Linux OS, great. But if you don't actively support it and ensure everything works then have fun with customers foaming at the mouth with rage when their game doesn't work and you tell them "sorry no refunds".

No. Mostly because even with a dual boot computer with Windows and Linux I still mostly use Windows. Having the option of playing games on both isn't going to suddenly change that.

If Windows 8 turns out to be a colossal failure like Vista, and Windows ME was (which seems likely), I'll just stick to Windows 7, and I will still have Windows 7 until a worthy successor comes along.
I would rather be dead than go to linux, or any other OS with sketchy compatibility for that matter.
