This is not a Paragon Fury thread. Nothing will get NSFW here. Unless you decide to show a pic of your egg and swimmers then... no.

I think this is an interesting topic that I havent seen spoken about yet but here we go. Would you do it? Have you done it before. Do you fear that those little creations would grow up to find you one day?

That's all I have really. It seems straightforward.

From what I know, donating your eggs is a complicated and unpleasant business. I'll admit that I don't know much about it, but I think I remember reading that you have to get injections and shit. No thanks.

So, I'm unlikely to do it for a stranger. But if a member of my family was having fertility troubles I'd consider donating to them if they wanted. I wouldn't be worried about the kid knowing. Your parents aren't solely defined by blood, in my books. I'm only biologically related to 3 out of 5 of my siblings. But they're all my siblings.

EDIT: I didn't vote because I don't really have an option which fits.

Last time I checked, I'm sterile.

Ignoring that, no. My family has a pretty horrendous medical history, with a high propensity for a variety of cancers, dementia, Alzheimer disease, and skeletal problems. I'm not even sure I'd be comfortable with typical breeding, if I was/am capable.

Sure.

I am pretty certain I ain't having a child by regular means (fall in loved, get married, have sex) but in saying so, who would want to have my sperm?

Well I've had orchi, so donating sperm is right out for me... As is likely the fact that I was on HRT from a young age which probably destroyed my fertility anyways... That's beside the fact that if they put a picture of me in a donor book, then the clients who wanted my sperm would probably be looking to have a particularly feminine and petite daughter, regardless of the kid's assigned sex. >.>

No. IIRC there's been cases of donors being traced through the courts, which is the exact opposite of what I'd be signing up for as a donor. I don't really know the nitty gritty of the situation, but it sounds like a lot of grief considering the number of presumably more suitable (hairy, smiley) donors available.
I think in the UK at the age of 18, the child turned adult can find out who their biological parents are. It's just done to the person themselves if they wish to know or not. Also if the parents actually tell them the truth. It's all a tricky situation.

For various reasons I don't think they'd want my sperm. I'll stick with donating blood and opinions.

Good thing you put the disclaimer there. The first thing I read was "Para" and I suspected I knew where this was going ;-)

Anyhoo, I'd have no problem with donating my sperm. My genetics are pretty strong and if it helps other people I'm all for it. I love kids; have three of my own. My wife on the other hand, has a big problem if I were to do it.

Your two names are quite similar though. Or maybe i get confused easily.

OT. If i donate sperm all over place, does that mean i win at evolution without the horrible process of having to be responsible for children, let alone trying to convince another unsuspecting human that i am capable and not tiresome? I eat my young anyhow, and other people's if they stray too close. Would rather not miss out on my own tasty gene meal.

Only if someone begged me enough for my eggs, i have no problem with the concept and have no use for them myself but i hear that its a pain to go through and i just don't care enough
besides donating sounds like charity and i have been screwed over by those bastards too many times

The idea is vaguely interesting to me in a 'this is something I could do if I wanted' sort of way, but I don't think I would in practice. Something about potentially contributing to bringing more people into the world doesn't appeal to me, even if that would bring joy to someone who wants to do that and otherwise wouldn't be able to without my assistance.
That and the potential legal annoyances, not to mention the fact that I have no particular inclination to taint the gene pool with my personal contribution, makes it seem like a bad idea to me overall.

No for a bunch of reasons. One being I think people should adopt instead of inseminate. Blood relatives are overrated.

I'm an organ donor, I give blood regularly, but you can't have that.

Realistically, I'd probably be about upper mid-grade if I did, (being tall dark and slightly above average in academia); but I feel that having a kid is a massive responsibility. By massive I mean if you're a male and you know you have kids and you're not a regular in their lives or working to get there you are not a man .

That being said, I might donate to a relative with fertility issues or a lesbian couple I'm super close with, assuming they don't mind me being in the kid's life.

1) I likely never will. While I have strong genetics, I also have many, in generalized terms, undesirable physical traits, such as being short, having overly arched heels, etc. etc. etc., which almost certainly assures that I would hardly be paid for donating my swimmers.

2) In many states, the donor is actually required to financially support any child that is conceived due to their donation(s). So congratulations: if you donated for the sole perk of getting some pocket change, you are now screwed over.

It is really not as attractive of a prospect as it might seem at first - ultimately, it is better to sell plasma every couple of weeks, if you are really so desperate for cash. But if you have perfect genetics, and you do not have to worry about supporting a child that is not even under your personal care, then you can make some serious money from selling sperm/eggs. As in, tens of thousands of USD per donation.
