I cant for the life of me think of a part of the bible that would make a good video game. Jesus was a good guy, but not exactly the best action hero. I do however think that the book of Revelation would make a good movie.

I played Fatale by tale of tales and that's based on the bible, or a play by Oscar Wilde(I can't tell the difference)

There's so much war in the Old Testament you could probably do about 6 games just on that, plus escaping from Egypt - could be really good. You'd need an impartial developer though.

It depends. The chances are it'd be made by Christians, so it'd educational and not fun. If it was made in the frame of mind 'the Bible as simply a regular book' and they actually used their imagination then it could be good. But, I doubt that'd happen because people would be 'offended'.

There are games based on the Bible. The ones that are respectful towards the subject matter -- such as "Noah's Ark" and "Bible Game" -- tend to be boring, with little regard to gameplay. The ones that focus mostly on gameplay -- such as Adult Swim's "Bible Fight" -- utterly trivializes the Christian faith.

I really can't see a game coming along that is respectful and faithful to the Bible, and has excellent gameplay and production value.

On the off chance that such a miracle occurs, I'd probably play it.

If the game is fun, of course. Whether you regard the Bible as religious truth or not, there are parts of the book that are nothing short of epic.

Make a game based on the Bible? BLASPHEMY

...or is it sacrilegious?

Anyway, for all the good ideas, the project would attract way way too much racial hatred.

EDIT: Why the fuck did I put racial hatred? I meant religious hatred...

The Bible is basically a hard-core action flick put down into a book.
How else could the story and characters suck so hard?
Favorite highlight of it is when some dude raises an army of dead people.
Forget the sequel, by the way. Its about some Jesus dude or shit. I swear, he is as annoying as Anakin Skywalker from the Phantom Menace sometimes.

not as you described it, but if it was bible light, say if it was as loosely based on the bible as god of war is based on greek mythology, then sure.

The Book Of Revelations would be pretty cool.

Alternatively, we could get a kind of moral choice thing. Do you choose to sacrifice your son Isaac or tell Yahweh to go stuff himself? Maybe there could be a "side with God but be a pussy, side with the Devil and be awesome" thing.

I think your fishing in the wrong area's in the bible to have a good action kicking ass story if your looking in the christian scriptures. The hebrew scriptures have alot more story potential because they're wasnt a Jesus figure being Jesus.

But as was said many times on this thread, I would play the game to the happieness of my parents if it were made by a gaming company, by a creater who has made good games before.

Edit: You should add more options to the poll, like maybe if_____.

Playing a "Christian," game would be ENTIRELY dependent on the attitude the developer took in the design.

Yes, I have played these games with Japanese, Chinese, Norse, Greek, and Secular precepts coming out of their ears. However, NONE of them tried to convince me that I should be part of that faith system. They knew exactly what they were - an excuse to get to some action.

So long as the game remembered that one, and very simple, tenet... and had some deity induced badass moments, then yes, I would definitely play that game.

as just about all others here, yes i would play it if it had good gameplay, and the storyline didnt suck

i have a few idea's for a good game that was (thery loosely) based on the bible

satan has been recruiting a smaller army of demons, and created a HUGE army of undead, to take over the earth (and then, maybe even assault heaven)

you are jesus, and your goal is, to make the empires of earth band together to destroy this evil, and ofcourse, help them with the battles to come

it should ofcourse play like an rpg (maybe with a little bit of rts once in a while)
jesus isnt really a warrior ofcourse, he's more like a divine spellcaster (but they should also give him some offensive spells so it wouldnt be completely boring)

so basically you run around and do miracles, so that the empires will trust that you are, infact the son of god. and then, when you have their trust, band them together to make one huge empire, that can destroy this evil.

ofcourse you should also have to do some battle and such, because that gamers who would play a game completely without combat is THERY rare
