Title says it all. I've heard many times that the best way to get someone to do something is to tell them NOT to do it. So, taking that idea to it's furthest extreme, if you ever came across a button (or lever or switch or whatever) labelled "end of the world button, do not push" would you push it?
No. The answer is no. I guess there's a possiblity it wouldn't do anything since you haven't specified that the button's label is consistent with what it would actually do. But I'm not doing something like that regardless. Seems horribly selfish.
Nope. Not because of the chance that it'd end the world, but everyone knows that if you put "do not touch" on something, people will touch it. And I'm way too paranoid to touch something that's so obvious of a trap.
Yeah I would definitely push the button. Why? Because it would be too tempting, I want to go down in history as the man who destroyed the world. Plus I want to see what the end of the world looks like.
No but it will depend on my sanity.
Op never state when or where I will encounter the button like e.g. in a post apocalypse world and I have gone insane!
I like how you don't specify what the button actually does, makes things more interesting, so if it were a button that would launch every nuke in the world I'd have to say no... Both suicidal and pretty dumb and the craziest part is that one has the greatest likelihood of actually happening...
Moooving on, if it were a button like in that movie The Box... Well that doesn't turn out so well either and it's not really the same thing, it just means you are given lots of cash but someone you've never met will die.
Technically if you press the button, the next person who gets the box will be in line to kill you if they push the button, dramatic irony and everything but it gets the end of the world thing done... For you and the other unlucky souls who got the box and pushed the button.
My third option is a button that triggers the end of this world as is described in the Bible... Yeah, I know it's an imaginary button, that's how I already pushed it... No hard feelings right, evil-doers...?
