I don't play games as often as I'd like as-is. There's no way I'd do it less for anyone.

Likewise. If he's going to be my partner, he'd have to be a gamer. But then, I hear male gamers aren't too too hard to find. :)

Why would you quit gaming for a partner, it's not like it's a bad habit like drinking or smoking.

I voted Yes simply because I would. Me and my girlfriend are pretty seriously in love so i chose Yes because if gaming got to the point where it was a problem in my relationship and she wanted me to quit then I would. BUT! She is also a gamer herself and where she understand that we love and spend time with each other she also understands that video games are freaking awesome and every once in a while we as gamers like to say "Screw you, I'm gonna go get lost in this game for an hour or six". Also if i stopped buying games she would have less games to play!

Shorter version of the crap i just said
My girlfriend plays video games, She'd call me crazy if i quit playing because of her.

The option is there. It's called "No" :p

The thing is that gaming is usually something you do on your own. Drinking and smoking is something you can do with your partner and your friends all together. Unless your partner is a gamer or you're playing party games (all hail social gaming!) you're playing it all by yourself, usually isolated from your surroundings. This is especially so for PC games where there is no easy 2 player mode.

If my partner asked me to stop doing something I wanted to do...would I? Hell no, I'm not getting rid of the things I enjoy for a woman. If they actually love me they understand it would be crazy to try to change me.

Well, I generally game because I've done so for most of my life and I don't generally have anyone besides my siblings to interact with. (Damn my shyness and social phobia)

But I am willing to game less, but it would be hard for me to give it up completely.

Either that, or I'll try and get him into gaming if he isn't already. Come to the dark side, we have Call of Duty 4.

Bah, if she is really that needy then she has issues to begin with. And it won't stop at getting you to stop playing games, next she'll get you to change the way you dress and the way you act until you are the guy she wants not the person she should accept you for.

I don't think I'd quit gaming for anyone. It's what I do, and who I am. If, on the other hand, she wanted to talk about cutting back, I could probably try to be more accommodating... With a few conditions;

1. She has to suggest alternatives, because less gaming means more time where I'm doing nothing.

2. She can't get mad when I say, "But those things suck" to aforementioned suggestions.

3. Cutbacks on the Metroid series are unacceptable. If I can't play Street Fighter at 5pm anymore, you can be damn sure I'll be playing Metroid Fusion that night in bed.

Depends on how attractive and how naked my partner is willing to get.

If I cannot play games, I want something else to play with. wink wink.
