Well she wont, I got her involved a couple of times, and anyway I put her before everything, so the only time I go on games is when she goes to sleep or is doing something I'm not involved in. But yes I would, she wouldn't ask unless it was important,

My girlfriend is entirely happy with my level of gaming which is, frankly, rather low anyway. My base level tends to be about a two hour session two or three times a week, so I'm not exactly spending much on it anyway.

When new releases are on the table I tend to have a deal. With enough pre-warning and comparative payback I am free to disappear for a day or three (as happened with Resident Evil 5). Fortunately the number of new releases I am actively excited about is always quite small, the only things on the horizon for me are Left 4 Dead 2 (still don't know why its not called Left 2 Die) and Modern Warfare 2 (Call of Duty 6: Modern Warfare 2?).

However, under different circumstances I would agree to reduce my rate to about where it is now. I am currently not living with my girlfriend but as and when we've agreed not to be pissy about things we each want to do in our evenings.

Actually this thread is quite interesting to show how addicted people are to gaming
or enjoy it at the very least. I suppose enjoyment and addiction go hand in hand

It was an issue with my last girlfriend that she suddenly decided that i would be allowed go on the computer for 2 hours on the weekend because her ex had neglected her for his games. I laughed, she didn't see why i laughed. I explained she seemed to be talking in some strange foreign language that made no sense, and that I was a whole new person not just the same guy in a new body. We are still friends...

(To be honest that wasn't the reason we broke up but it was a big symptom of the failure to communicate that we had. Seriously though it would depend entirely upon the girl, and why she was making the request.)

Play less? Sure.
Stop? Piss off.
Luckily I might call a gamer my gf soon o/
Soon? What are you going to do with her, give her The Sims 3 + World Adventures for Christmas?

Oh wait you're going to befriend a current gamer? That might indeed be easier to pull :)

They're not worth being with if they ask you to give up something you love. It's not like I'm trying to give up heroine. It's not like games are going to kill me or cause my mental/physical/emotional health to deteriate to such a degree that would cause alarm. If I become obsessed with something, then I may consider cutting back a bit.

I would (and have) but I still like to stay informed as to whats happening in the world of gaming. So upon my return to gaming, i'm not a complete moron who's been left behind.

No. Gaming is a part of who I am and I would never even go out with person who ask me to give up a part of myself just cause they did not like or understand it. A person who truly understood me and loved me would never ask that of me.
