Own a dragon, I rather like being a human and I still get the advantages of riding on it's back, having the coolest pet ever etc.

Be a dragon owning a dragon would be really expensive just think about how much food it would need and youd probably have to pay for all the property damage it would cause. Also riding a flying creature would be cool, but having wings would be even cooler.

Is the dragon a sentient creature? Cause owning one would be very wrong then.

Also, is this a shapeshifting dragon? Cause then I could be me most of the time.

No, no. It would be like your dog. Only a dragon.

Own.

Being the only one of a species would suck on multiple levels.

No, no. It would be like your dog. Only a dragon.
But in that case, being a dragon is a terrible choice as you would be destroying yourself as a sentient being.

I think you are confusing sentience (the ability to sense and feel things) with higher brain function.

If you were the dragon you would still retain your higher brain functions, if you owned the dragon it would be your loyal pet/companion

I regret picking owning a dragon. I did not realised that I have to take out its dump before I click on it! Maybe I can train it to pee and poop above the sea?

Being a dragon is no fun since I will lived in a cave and don't have the things I liked such as PC or my console etc.

While a controller needs opposable thumbs, I'm sure a dragon could use a sturdy enough mouse and keyboard. Since the exact details of the hypothetical aren't laid down, there's no reason not to imagine the best case scenario where humans and dragons work together peacefully, so there's no need to assume you'd be consigned to the wilderness. I mean, sure food and accommodation might be more expensive, but on the other hand, you'd have a massively extended lifespan, super strength and flight.

You forgot to consider the size and material needed to construct a dragon size pc! Not only will it be big but it going to be expensive due to the tougher material for the casing (probably fire proof aswell).

Well, assuming dragons are aerial predators, they probably have excellent eyesight so you wouldn't have to increase the monitor size to dragon proportions. The actual processing units don't need to increase in size either, the only things that need to be changed are the physical inputs- buttons etc. on the CPU unit and input devices such as mouse and keyboards might have to be redesigned to be dragon ergonomic (ie, replace buttons w switches, make keyboards revert to a more typewriteresque feel). But making those bigger is probably fairly easy, and assuming dragons are very strong you could cheap out and use heavier materials to increase sturdiness without greatly affecting experience.

You've at least proven there would be a market for it. You never know, it could revitalize the manufacturing base.

Neither...?

Being a dragon would suck. I'd be the only one of my kind, and I'd constantly have to deal with fool adventurers trying to kill me in order to prove their worth and devotion toward their country and/or love interest.

On the other hand, having a pet dragon would suck because holy shit would that be expensive. I mean, how would I even hope to afford to feed the damn thing? Where am I going to keep such a large animal in my tiny home? And even if it could be trained to use a sandbox like a cat's litterbox... good lord, you'd need a shovel, or hell maybe a tractor, to clean it out. Not to mention I'd need to have an alarm system installed to deal with fool adventurers trying to kill my pet in order to prove their worth and devotion toward their country and/or love interest.

There is also the fact that I don't want to introduce a creature which could eat me or cause huge amounts of damage. I would have one as a pet, and then slit its throat. I am fine without having predators, thank you very much.

It can't really work that way.

Either dragons are creature of high intellectual capacity and sentience, and you could be one with no negative effects to your mind, or its 'sub-human,' which means you would no longer be yourself, and would in fact be less then.

If its the first, its immoral to own one. If its the second, then your'd be a moron to choose to destroy yourself.

I pass on this one, Theoretical Genie Man.

And no one every answered my question in your original 'Would You Rather' thread. Poor show all around.

I'm surprised Eclipse Dragon ain't here yet.

I'd like a pet dragon, I'd show him/her how to fly kites.

What kind of Dragon?
Dragons in Pathfinder and DnD have the ability to use Polymorph and Invisibility and all that good stuff so I could live in human society fairly easily and only use my dragon powers when needed/stay cocky in knowing that I am a motherfucking dragon.
But Song of Ice and Fire dragons just kind of sit around and kill people and get complained about, not really something I'd like to do.
