I would much rather have the ability to remember everything. I want to go into science, medical research in particular, and this power would be extremely valuable. I could memorize organic chemicals, nucleotide sequences, diseases, treatments, and free up more time for the actual research part.
I can see why some people would want the ability to forget terrible things that happened to them, but that doesn't really bother me so much, because I know that I would be able to help more people as a result. Sure, my life might be kind of hard, but in the end I would be able to improve more people's lives.

Never forget. There are only a few memories I have that really negatively affected me (relatives dying/funerals, traumatic experiences etc) but sooooo many good memories that I can barely remember now (as well as several that I have probably forgotten). Being able to relive in vivid details all the good things that have happened would be amazing. This is on top of the fact that you would be some sort of genius, with remembering every fact you came across and all.

Well, there are memories in my life I'd rather forget. Would this power give me the ability to pick what I want to forget?

Of course.
