You're on your computer. It's late at night. You come across a page on Facebook. Maybe you were looking through your news feed. Maybe you don't even have an account and are just following a link. Either way, you come across it.

A window pops up bearing the Facebook logo. It says one thing: Would you like to permanently shut down Facebook? Two buttons present themselves underneath the query, "Yes" and "No". You have no clue. You have no idea of what this could mean. Is it a joke? Is it serious? Should you pass up this opportunity? Should you just ignore it all together?

Now, it comes down to it. What do you do? It might be telling the truth. You might actually have this power before you. Do you waste it? Do you click "No", exit out of the window, ignore it all together? Because you don't trust it? Would you actually take it seriously enough to just ignore it? Because you actually like Facebook? Because you feel you don't have the right to make that kind of life-changing decision?

Or, do you click "Yes"? Do you use the power that has been given to you? Because you hate Facebook? Because you feel Facebook has perverted or hindered society in some way? Maybe you'll do it just to see if it will really happen. Because you believe it's all a joke or isn't real. Or maybe you'll do it just because you can.

Click either "Yes" or "No". Be honest. If a window like this really popped up, what would you really do? It's just a single browser window after all... What harm could it do?

Decide, and explain your reasons. Question other's. Discuss.

No because although Mark Somethingberg might have done something bad there is no reason to take down a social networking site for any reason.

We as humans are social creatures and although there was a time where I openly bashed Social Networks of all kinds I now understand there purpose and don't see why any one would hate them.

Hell no. Facebook is the easiest way to keep in contact with anyone you need to. It helps you build and continue friendships with people that you otherwise would have lost contact with.

I moved around a lot in my childhood, back when you didn't have a cellphone if you were 10. I didn't really have a way to keep in contact with everyone that I had left. Until Facebook. I tracked some people down, and now its like I never left them.

So I repeat, hell no. I would not shut down my Facebook. Its become too valuable to me.

I'd click no!
Facebook is the best way to keep in touch with friends that don't have cell phones or don't live close to me.
It's a nice website for seeing what's going on in your friends lives, why would I want to get rid of it?
And why would I ruin the opportunity for other people? Not really fair to choose for them

Nah, just because I don't like it, doesn't mean that other people don't like it.
if people enjoy it, then people enjoy it, not much you can do.

No.

I don't use it, but my head isn't shoved up my own rectum far enough for me to justify eliminating something simply based on that.

It's a strange phenomenon really. Why is it people can't abide popular things they don't like? I feel the same way about the Twilight thing. I think it's sloppy, poorly written, and nothing more than a outlet for adolescent girls to fantasize about impossibly perfect boys, but that doesn't mean others shouldn't be allowed to enjoy it.

Yup, I'd do it. I don't use facebook anyway, and I'd do it just to see what happens. I'm one of those people who, if given a chance, would enjoy fucking with people just to see their little world burn (figuratively of course).

Bingo.

I may not like facebook, but obviously some people do. Just because I don't like it doesn't mean no one else should have it.

Man, Facebook is really useful. The only thing that irks me about is the kind of people who use it to post abut stupid crap nobody cares about, and cyber-bullying. "No" To shutting down Facebook, "Yes" to shutting down certain morons.

No. I don't have a facebook account and have no interest in one but I also have no reason to shut it down.

An amazing way to contact friends both lost and old, it could be called sociopathic to make millions of people lose touch with peers otherwise never talked to.

I use facebook on a regular basis for a reason (funny that I don't have a phone), my answer is fuck to the no.

If I knew it would work, no. If not, then I would probably hit yes thinking it is a joke and then realize what I have done at a later time. Man, a lot of people at my school would be pissed.

Who said it would actually work?

I would probably do exactly the same. Whether or not it would actually happen is another thing.
