Considering the end of your life is the BEST part of your life where all the cool technical innovations that revolutionise everything come along and promise to make you immortal and provide near limitless energy then yeah, that's a terrible trade-off..

so, no terrible idea and I'm glad it's impossible.

Considering I don't remember my dreams, of course I would. More time doing the things I like and less time being comatose and lifeless.

If aging is simply accelerated though, no chance.

Now, that's a tempting offer. I don't really dream much (or, rather, I never remember my dreams), and I never want to go to sleep at night because there's always so much left to catch up on.

I think I'd go for it, actually. 20 years off of the end of my life is less than the 33% of my life that I'd spend sleeping. If I live for at least 60 years, anyway. There are a ton of other benefits, as well: more time to finish work, more time for pursuing my own interests, more time for goofing off and relaxing... Plus, I'd never need to sleep, so I'd never get tired. That means no sleep deprivation to hinder my physical and mental capabilities. It'd actually be nice to remember a time when I didn't wake up exhausted and desperate for more sleep...

No. Even without the -20 year drawback. Being able to lie down in bed and let all your problems just float away as you go to sleep is a wonderful thing, I wouldn't trade it for a life where you'd have to be up/around/active ALL the time without rest.

No, I like sleep. Waking up sucks but sleeping itself is amazing and is sometimes the only thing I look forward to at the end of a particularly boring day.

The like the idea of being able to get more stuff done but I think I'd get bored after the first 24 hours.

I would in this perfect scenario.

In reality however your brain would deteriorate and your muscles and joints would not repair themselves without the period of rest.

I love to go to sleep with my girlfriend though... I know it sounds corny but I like going to sleep with her and waking from time to time to see what weird things she says in her sleep or how I don't have any covers because she is a blanket hog. It's not perfect but 20 years of the future stolen from me just so I can be awake when no one else is is pretty lame.

Because I get to hallucinate vividly every night, nope. I like sleep, I like lying in bed with my girlfriend, so no.

Why would I? I largely enjoy sleep. I love being in bed, I love being able to snuggle up with the boyfriend, I usually don't mind the dreams now, and it's a good time waster.

And what the hell am I gonna do with the extra time? I'm unemployed, so I'm not gonna be using that time to catch up on stuff I couldn't do while working, and I wouldn't want to wake the boyfriend up with whatever it is I'd be doing while up. Also, nothing but some bars and delis are open past 9pm here, so there isn't really anything to go out to do.

So yeah, utterly not worth it to me. I already know my lifespan is gonna be short, I don't need a guaranteed shortening of it by 20 years.

Definitely yes, whilst I sleep really easily I'm always so tired anyway, and would much rather put the additional hours gained by not having to sleep to good use.

Good use, as in use it watch more anime and play more games in my forever growing Steam collection :) .

I did that, it was called college. Oh, nevermind.

No. I'd take a treatment that got me down to needing only 4 hours and running like I'd had 10 any day, but no, I wouldn't pass on dreaming naturally because I wouldn't trust any dreaming that was chemical to be the same thing and I happen to think that dreaming is an important function of my brain and my psyche.

Well the last 20 or so years of life are the ones that suck. Most of those you'll be spending in a wheel chair in an old folks home praying for the release of death.

So, yeah, give me the pill.

I'd rather have the pill that allows you recharge your energy in sleep faster ( 3-4 hours average).
But if I can't have this one, then I'd rather avoid loosing the joy of sleep.

I'll take the 20 years even if it means I have to sleep them. Besides, that's more time I would be expected to work/study. Also there's the energy/power cost of more people being active 24/7 (assuming others do it). Not worth it.
