Oh I don't know, I feel like there may be an unnecessary compromise if devs try to force touchpad controls into a game that doesn't really need it. If it's part of the core gameplay maybe but I don't think I'd enjoy a game where I'm forced to change between two controls.

As for the whole mouse and keyboard on the PC, it's alright for most people I guess but it's never really clicked for me. I've always preferred a joystick.

Well I'm not one for consoles so it's not that big of a concern, until they start doing extra shitty ports...

And I can't tell if that would possibly raise the quality of the touch screen toilet gaming or just open the flood gates for more garbage, I'd like to say the options should always be there but with the sort of publisher monkeys we get at the wheel these days that isn't a sensible thing to do.

Fuck the poll I wouldn't mind either way because I'm wanting to grab me a Wii U anyway.

That and a lot of people sure seem to be afraid of change, but then again they call change a gimmick anyway so they just really are afraid.

No, not really. But then I have no plans to buy any of the next gen consoles so I don't really care.

I might be helpful for inventory management. I'd still like the option to play any game entirely without it if I choose to do so, however.

Nope. Tactile feedback is far superior in almost all situations.
Mmmmmmmmmmmyep. Gotta have tactile feedback.

Honestly though I don't care what the controller does just so long as the console doesn't punish me for playing offline and punish me further for borrowing a copy of Game A from a friend.

No I do not. When I play on my xbox or ps3 I'm normally huddled under a blanket, arms and hands under it too and I'm not looking at the controller, I find it most comfy and warm. A touchscreen on the controller means my arms would go cold! :p but really I just don't like touchscreens, it won't work with every game either. It's good that we have one console that will do it but I wouldn't want them all to follow it. Besides chances are it will distract developers from making games that have stories to games that will have mini games on the controller alone. If it ain't broke don't fix it.

No. It means I'd have to look at the controller halfway through doing things to see what I was pressing, and that is monumentally shit. Also, I have spent the last decade of my life using Playstation controllers, I'm used to them, and I like them. They don't need to be fucked with.

I have no feelings either way.

The DS/Wii U have made some creative use out of a touch screen which can be really fun.
However, at no point have they made traditional control schemes feel dated or obsolete.

At this point in time I'd rather PS4/Xbox 720 keep their prices down and pass on the touchscreen controllers.
Release this as an expanded optional add-on like they did Move/Kinect for people who want alternative modes of control.

No way, I like the controllers the way they are and how they fit comfortably in my hands. I don't want to have to hold some giant retarded tablet to play a game.

I wouldn't mind having something like a normal controller and an add-on iPad looking thing to connect to the console for quick navigation through menus and for solving puzzles etc.

I'd much rather the NextBox (That's what it should be called...hehehe...) keep the controller style it has now. Same with the PS3. In fact, the only thing I'd change on any controller is swapping the D-Pad with the left thumb stick on the PS3 controller. It's somewhat annoying having it far to the right when all games use it now.

But I can't see a point to a touch screen that the controller can already do.

Not really, no. I find touch screens work on the handhelds because of the smaller screens, and therefore my concentration never has to break away from what I'm doing on the screen and what that translates into the game. By contrast, a screen on a controller while the game plays on the TV would be too distracting for me, especially if the screens aren't the same size. Couple that with the fact that I rarely find myself in a situation where I think "Man, this game would be awesome if I had touch screen controls", and in general I'm not as hyped up about touch screens. So no, I'd rather Sony and Microsoft not use touch screens for their next console. Will they though? I'm not sure. We have to wait and see how the WiiU does, and if it turns out that it is the touch screen that makes the WiiU a success (I'm not confident, but stranger things have happened) then maybe, but I'm going to wager that the touch screen may actually work against the WiiU's favor, so perhaps the other two will be more hesitant. Or at least I hope they will be.

I don't fear change. I just don't like pointless change. Change for the sake of change.
