Warcraft 4. Starcraft 2 will never have some of the fun modding capabilities that Warcraft 3 did like heroes and experience.

And you know this how?

Scripting-wise, one stat counter more (per hero) upped whenever the hero slays something does not sound like rocket science.

They'll probably go to the Emerald Dream before the Maelstrom. I remember hearing that at one time those gates guarded by the old Green world dragons actually worked, and that the files for the zone are still in the game.

There was an article I found on the game's official forums about unfinished areas and the like: there's a LOT more of them than meets the eyes. Hell, there's an entire instance in Stormwind that actually has a map and such (devoid of any life) in the files you already have.

Yes but then you have to get an inventory system, experience bars, adjustable leveled spells. I also heard on the Starcraft 2 forums that the editor won't have hero based units and such.

All I know is I'm still not playing a Goblin or Ethereal. so....damnit.
With you one the Goblins, but Ethereals... I dunno, they have a certain charm about them...

I dunno. There's just something entertaining about running around as a Turkish man made of pure energy; peddling my wares and charging through the underbrush like a phasing ninja.

Umm, I figured that the Maelstrom was a backdoor into the ED... Or some huge old gods... Or both... It would be pretty epic if you had to fight through the old gods to get into ED, it would make for some interesting raids.

Play EVE and start getting hyped up for Infinity: The Quest for Earth. I stopped playing WoW for EVE and I think it's the best gaming related decision I've ever made.

I'm hoping Lich King will be the last, mostly because I REALLY want Warcraft 4 to be released. I doubt it though, and things like The Emerald Dream could be fun.

Personally I think if they REALLY shook things up that would be cool, by like seriously upsetting the practiced playstyle for the next one. WoW has become to lamely loot grindy in the last while.
WC4 won't be done by the WoW team, it'll be done by the RTS team - currently hard at work on SC2.

If I had to guess, I'd say that WC4 and WoW could probably exist concurrently. And hell, it's not like they can't just invent new antagonists. :p How many bad guys in WC3 came from WC2 again? The Ner'zhul part of the Lich King, and that's a stretch.

At Blizzcon, when someone asked Chris Metzen at a panel, he said to "not think continents," which says to me either... well, the Dream or Maelstrom, pretty much.

I've done a little more research and it seems the popular favourite to the youtube(cringe) demographic is the Emerald Dream just search it up and you'll end up with thousands of badly made ripoffs usually featuring a mix of mulgore and stranglethorn.
