I'm sure they thought the rep idea was a good for a while. But like everyone is saying if they don't like you for what ever reason and they feel they need to fill out a negative rep. Let them it doesn't hurt you in any way and no one can see it anyways. Besides Even with a newer tag that starts at 100%. Give it about 2 hours of play time on any shooter and you'll fine yourself around 95-80%

So what if it makes that person that fills out the bad rep smile on the inside cause your halo armor is the color purple...

doesn't matter to anyone well until the rep system is changed to something more major (which probably won't happen)

If you dislike it enough to get rid of it, ignore it. You think people look at your 80% rep and say, 'hhmmm, this guy seems rude! I shall betray him!'
True enough, but I think instead of MS wasting their time creating the rep system, they could have instead thought of ways to keep 360's from dying a horrible death. That's just my opinion though.
How much effort really went into it though? I doubt it was a big deal doing it. They were probably just like, 'Hey Bill! You wana add a rep?'

I can't imagine it took too much time to brainstorm, but every picture you see on your TV sent from a console is represented by tons of lines of code which takes time to write. Being an IT guy, I know MS likes to release half finished products, be it their consoles or operating systems. It still boggles my mind why I bought a 360.

You bought an Xbox because your other options are PS3 and Wii. Thats about all I have to say.

I bought it because it was cheaper than the PS3. Now I know why.

I don't get what the rep system is there for.
The rep/skill system WAS intended to be a complex universal matchmaking thing. Though the feature was always ignored and never developed.
It also is probably supposed to help people better themselves. This is just a guess by me though. Only you can see it so maybe they thought people would look and see what people hate about them and hope they cared to better themselves in that respect.

Scrap it. And can someone explain to me what "aggressive" behaviour is? I mean I am sitting there playing an FPS free for all how do I get dinged with aggressive behaviour afterwards? I can understand the language dings since I curse like a drunken sailor but aggressive?? WTF?

I'm really not bothered about my rep. I play online games and I don't boost or show off and shout about it, I just like playing, not caring what other people think of me!

Also does anyone care about their rep?
Not as far as I'm aware, which is surely another reason to scrap it.

I don't understand the Rep Thingy. It says like 60% of people hate me, but I still have 5 stars. The hell?
Yeah, no idea how that works. My friend had 50% of players leaving him unsporting behaviour rep and yet he stayed on 5 stars. The whole system seems completely pointless to be honest.

The stupid thing is that it never goes down from 5 stars. I swear you could have 100% bad rep and you would still have 5 stars. In fact I once gave a guy with only 3 stars a bad review and it went up to 4 stars! What the hell?

I suppose the problem with the rep system is that people are only going to give negative reviews most of the time. If someone is really nice then you don't think about giving them good rep (well I do but a lot of people don't bother) but if someone is a douche then you will most certainly leave bad rep. So if you are a douche half the time and really nice the other half of the time then you will have like 90% bad feedback.

TL;DR yes they should scrap it or at least improve it.
