I have 1600 points.

Dragon Age Origins is only $5 or 360 points.

However, I am looking forward to the witcher 2, which is sitting at $39.99.
I am assuming it will only go down to $20 or 1400 points.

If I get DA:O it will leave me with 1240 points.

So, should I get DA:O with the risk of missing The Witcher 2,
or
Miss the DA:O sale and get The Witcher 2?

Dragon Age is on sale for the entire week whereas The Witcher 2 is only going to be a 24 hr offer. You might as well wait and see what price Witcher 2 is going to be and you can always pick up DA afterwards

The Witcher 2, without a doubt. One of the best, most mature stories in gaming history.
I love Dragon Age: Origins but, I think there is one other caveat to throw out there. The 360 version of the game is fairly bad. The forced perspective and interface make all sorts of tasks incredibly challenging. That said, some of that is mitigated on easier difficulty levels but on the harder ones, a misplaced fireball can make the party's life much much worse - not to mention shorter.

Which brings up another good point. In The Witcher 2, you are controlling one character the entire game, Geralt. In DA:O, you are controlling an entire party centered around the main character you create. While I love both games, I prefer controlling just one character as it makes it much more immersive in my opinion.

Unless you're used to playing on console and just ignore the massive spells, unless you do a solo run.

On topic. you already have your answer but I bought the GOTY edition of DA:O for £5, so I would say get the witcher 2.

My nitpick was simply that the nature of the game is such that it is best played from a more overhead perspective. The game is certainly still playable on the 360 - I picked it up there on a whim a year or so ago after having played through the game on PC when it was released. It simply requires a lot more pausing.

That said, the Witcher 2 is a fantastic port and, better still, the base game is well suited to a game pad. The only deficiency there is the obvious drop in graphical quality when compared to the PC version but it still looks like a perfectly fine game.

I'll throw my hat in and recommend the Witcher 2, it isn't perfect, but Dragon Age can be a real slog at times, the pacing of that game is awful to me.

Sheesh, everyone's ragging on Dragon Age because it's not as good as The Witcher 2? That's like trashing... I can't think of a good analogy here, but The Witcher 2 is at the top of the scale for fantasy RPGs, and DA:O is slightly below that.

For $5, Origins is a steal. A cheap Witcher 2 would also be excellent, so wait to see if it goes on sale, but if you can, get both, seriously. I would if I didn't have them already.

I'm gonna be picking up The Witcher 2 during its sale, and there might even be a chance that it goes down to $10, like Borderlands 2 did today (a 2012 release that was sitting at $40). And like others had said, DA:Origins is a week-long deal so you might as well wait anyways, if in the end you decide to pick that up instead.

I'd go for the witcher 2 on this one, having played both (on PC so i cant speak for how they cross over to xbox) i enjoyed TW2 as a game more than i did DA:O. I'm not ragging on DA:O by any means, I did like it, but after i finished it i never had an urge (to this day) to go back and replay it, TW2 however is a different story, i just enjoyed it much more

Dragon age Origins is a travesty on the Consoles, very much a PC game, I'd go for the Withcer it's a far better port. I want to make it clear that DA:eek: is a fantastic game...just not on console, pc controls haven't been translated well and the console version took the ugly stick up the arse very hard. The witcher 2 on the other hand is an equally good but much better ported game.

pretty much this. I think DA:O is one of the best RPGs ever and that Witcher 2 is kind of meh, but Dragon Age on the console would be horrendous.

edit: it hurt my heart to click Witcher 2.

Get DA:O. That's a great price for it!

As to the Witcher 2 - get it on GoG or Steam. 40 bucks is a terrible price for that game! I got it for 6.
