Hey, thank you for reading this! It would be very appreciated if you could repsond to this.

Seeing as the holidays are comming up alot of people are considering (if they dont have a one already) what they should get, more specificly, what video game console they would like to buy or recive. Today my brother asked if for "no reason" what console I would like. I answerd that I wouldn't mind a PS3 but my friend told me that the Xbox360 would be a better decision.

I am aware that the PS3 has better graphics and hardware along with a blue-ray disk player and free online capabilities, and the move. While the Xbox360 is cheaper, has (possibly) a better array of games, and the Kinect. I'm not that concernd about the motion tracking games, I would buy a Wii for that. So as you can see there is a small contiversy here. It would help very much if you could suggest wich would be the best for me c:

My friends IRL already have Wiis and a Xbox360

I enjoy some JRPG's(mostly SquareEnix stuff), Plateforers, Co-Op, Adventure, FPS (games like the ones on the Orange Box and L4D1 and 2)

My brother would be using it also so RTS's and War related FPS would be bought for the system as well.

I like online Co-Op but I dont want to be paying every month for it(Don't have money D:)

I REALLY like Valve games

I'm quite perticular to graphic quality but as long as they dont totally suck then I'm alright

It would mean alot if you could help me with my decision. I'm guessing they're multipul thread like this alread and I am sorry for making another. I've never had a gaming console but the Gameboy(/NDS) series so I dont know much about what is good/bad.

If you don't want to type you can just click an asnwer in the poll, though a writen response would be better.

Thanks

Get what your friends have, you'll regret being the only one on PSN while everyone else is on Live.

Also if you want graphics, go PC, the PS3 and 360 fail compared to it.

In the end, depends on what you want. If all your friends having 360s and you want to hang with them, well then you are gonna have to get one.

You want to a blu ray player with video games, you get PS3. The other thing about PS3 is that while playing games the framerate doesn't drop as much as the 360. But I really don't know, I keep reading that in reviews of games.

Graphics, well nothing beats PC out of the three. So there you have it.

If you are close to your friends, I would get the 360, but that is just me. And if I recall correctly, the silver membership on the 360 is free.

one two three Versus thread!
I'd go 360, if this gets posted before the thread gets locked.

Get the 360, if nothing else Target is selling them for $200 on Black Friday.

While I love my PS3, if all your friends are on the Box, you should too. It will make the games that much more enjoyable.

For online play, go for the 360. Otherwise, they're pretty much the same thing. Except that the PS3 doesn't need you to disc swap on large games. I don't play online, so ps3's fine for me.

However, you need gold membership in order to play with your friends.

I personally enjoy my 360 way more than my PS3. Don't get me wrong, I love my PS3, but I just get way more use out of my 360.

I enjoy the setup more, it has more exclusive games that I enjoy, and it doesn't take thirty hours to download automatic updates for system and games.

Enter fanboys. Honestly, both systems or worth having. You won't be more disappointed with one over the other. Both have their pros and cons.

I think there are more 360 exclusives that I enjoy more than PS3 exclusives.

Going by your apparent taste in games, you might agree.

Personally I tend to lean more towards the PS3, but if your friends are all using 360s and XBL, it's probably better that you go for the 360 too. I suppose it's also getting harder and harder to argue against the 360's value for money now that it comes with wireless built in and a 250GB HDD as standard, plus if Kinect interests you buying the 250GB & Kinect bundle will save you money as opposed to buying them seperately.

Of course, you shouldn't forget that you'll need to keep paying for Live from now 'till you lose interest in online play.

Sir, you have been mislead. The 360's Xenos is more powerful than the PS3's RSX, and the unified 512 of RAM is considered easier to program for than the 256x2 the PS3 has. The better graphics claim comes from the PS3's SPEs which can do SOME GPU work if they are specifically programed to, but I don't think many developers use them. The 360 will almost always have the technically superior version of any multiplat games. If you're looking for facts to substantiate or disprove my claim onthe quality of multiplat games... go here.

Ok going off both platform's exclusives:

If you want versatile games that do some pretty unique stuff, go PS3. (Highly recomend playing Heavy Rain)

If you want reliable, well balanced online multiplayer, go xbox 360. (Halo is awesome online, dispite what people say)

Comes down to exclusives.

If you'd rather play Halo, Gears Of War, Crackdown, Fables... get the 360.

If you'd rather play Uncharted, LittleBigPlanet, Infamous, Motorstorm, God Of War... get the PS3.

I personally think the PS3 has a greater variety of exclusives than the 360 (which tend to be FPSs or RPGs). Great bulks of games are released on both systems. There's the odd crappy PS3 port, but generally they're of even quality. The 360 is also the system in which smaller devs use, so there's a fair number of franchises that started on the 360 and have moved on to both (Saints Row, Mass Effect). One place the 360 shines is Xbox Live, which has a lot of retro-content that the Playstation Store has yet to seriously challenge.

Other non-gaming factors to consider. Any free service you might enjoy on-line (multiplay, Netflix, Hulu) is free on PS3, while the 360 requires the purchase of a Gold membership for you to access them (it's not for nothing that some people call it the TaxBox). There is a larger on-line gaming presence for the X-Box, so this might not be an issue for you. And, of course, the PS3 is a blu-ray player, which is a pretty nice nod in its favor for some people.

I wouldn't bother with the Move or Kinect unless you really enjoy the sort of casual Wii-style gaming that both are currently offering.

Either way, I think you'll be happy with what you buy. Both systems have their pluses and minuses, but unless there's a certain exclusive game that you simply *must* have, then the two systems are freakishly close in quality.

Your choice should really come down to 2 things:

1) Which console's exclusives appeal to you more. If you are going to get just one console you will miss out on the other's exclusive games - decide which are more your style and pick that one. The last thing you want to do is buy a PS3/360 and wish you could play Halo/Uncharted.

2) If you plan on playing online with your friends then you have to pick the same console as them. You'll have to pay for the Xbox, but if you play online often you will get good value out of the subscription.

The price has really come down a lot for both consoles - the PS3 isn't prohibitively expensive like it once was and the Xbox now comes with many featuress that used to cost extra. It might be worth checking out what online features you can get with each console and which ones appeal to you. This issue doesn't make a difference to me since I use my PS3 almost solely for gaming (occasionally Blu-Ray). I never use Facebook/iPlayer etc. These things might matter to you.

Here's a list of the exclusives from this generation of consoles.

I'd say PS3, based on the fact that, though xbox's online features are more streamlined, I shouldn't have to pay money to the console manufacturer to unlock the full potential of a game I already pay full price for.

Then again I should probably not talk because I have both. I do play loads more on PS3 though, hands down. Only play on xbox if there are exclusives or specific games I'd like to play with a select few of my friends.
