There ya go.
That's the Noun
Here's the Adverb
A fag is a man who either is or acts like a ***** despite of his sexuality.
I have said the word and I have never used it to describe a person's sexuality.

I'm a gay woman, and only offended by the term "fag" when it's used in an offensive context. Like, there's a thread about recent slang never before heard until recently, and the first page is all discussion on the word "Fag." It's a bundle of wood, it's a cigarette, etc etc. I wasn't offended at all.

I didn't notice yahtzee drop this line. Entirely posible I blinked, and it was gone. :) But based on what I know of the guy, and his self deprecating humor, I doubt I would take offense.

I don't think it's a big deal.

He didn't directly call you a 'fag' but even if he did, this is the internet we're talking about where 12 year old kids call everyone that play on the same server a '******' while they whine about everyone hacking on their game so shouldn't you be used to hearing that?

Well he had the word "Niggers" on screen as well. He swears all the time. He's stated himself that he believes it would be better if everyone made fun of everyone and everyone laughed. I personally Don't think words should be excluded from any one's vocabulary if they wish to use it. Even if it is something meant to harm someone, I mean, my Ethnic makeup has me as Anglo-Saxon, Slavic, Nordic, an Aussie, an Irish descendant, A Scot, and a Canadian. Many words generally considered offensive could apply to me. Just doesn't bother me.

it's very important to know that being gay has little to do with being a fag.

gay-likes men and is a man.
fag-likes men and is a man,acts like a woman
and that's why i hate fags ;p
don't we all.

i wouldn't say hate, but i get very irritated. and it's awfully awkward talking to one.
and trannys. they freak me the hell out.

Oh, since he has called himself not only a fag but a big literary fag I think he can use the word.

Reading your whine does indeed remind of that word...
Apparantly, you did not read anything, because all of my points are well thought out and respectable to all parties. You clearly also do not read where I am not personally offended by it, but instead am opening the doors to a discussion, which you clearly do not want to have, or do not know how to have. If you have nothing to add, do not post in the thread, it is quite simple. Also, you have been reported.

Couple of points.

1) Yahtzee is by his own admission a professional troll. he aims at controversy and insults.

2) Yahtzee names most of his re-nameable characters Fagballs (see Zelda and Fallout Review)

3) He also throws plent of homosexual refernces around on a regular basis (often at himself)

So i wouldnt worry hes not an xbox live user who will teabag you and call you a ****** for getting killed in your fps of choice...he's more inclined to do it in real life...

Like I said, 90% of the people in this thread are not even reading your post. They just read the title and make a post without reading the body at all.

its called "sarcasm" and obviously you do not watch south park like the other 90% of the world, hell most people i know who dont watch it know what im talking about when it is mentioned

and they just pointed out "harley riders" on the show, thats where that comes from, but in fact anything that is LOUDER, yes, it is annoying, and any harley rider i have ever seen, tries to be obnoxiously loud and revvvvv it up like no other, and tends to have the whole "i dont give a fuck about anyone else besides being a badass" so yes, there is a slight contention of hate towards the harley riders i suppose

i have friends hwo have bikes, but they dont make them super annoying and purposely try to make sure everyone in the city know they are riding it.

my arguement? i wasn't ARGUEING, i was stating an opinion, and if a gay person has a problem with it then confront me about it, i have been confronted about it before and we worked it out, big deal, thats what you do in LIFE

should i bow down and just suck it up because you are offended by me using the word? your last question is null

really dude, pull the pipe out of your ass and smell the sarcasm and humor, nobody hear TRULY gives a half ass about that, nor does anyone i know now a days, i have not personally seen a single pure bread bigot, and if they are, they are in jail for being that way
There is really no need to insult me, friend. No, I do not watch South Park. Sorry. I have no "pipe in my ass", and I think I am being quite reasonable, as per usual. I realize the questions I am asking may not have simple answer, but that is why we are having the discussion, because it is not as simple as yes or no. As for the whole Harley thing, I'm sure there was some funny reference on the show I do not watch, but that being said it could do you good to research biker culture so you are more tolerant of its inhabitants.

Also, the use of the term "argument", in my book, does not mean we are fighting tooth and nail in every case. I simply meant that we were having a discussion amongst two contending viewpoints, and your viewpoint stands as your argument. And I am fully aware what sarcasm is. You cannot seem to make your points without belittling me, and you have not really offered anything to the original questions I posed.

Edit: Was Yahtzee referring to the South Park episode? What led you to believe that, because I did not see him reference it. The word appears clearly after he is talking about actual, gay people. I don't see how the average viewer would immedialty conclude he is talking about South Park. Maybe I should have put this in Off-Topic, because I can see where this is going.
friend? you started off your post against my "opinion" with 'how rude', and yeah you kinda do, stop being all "proper and elegant" about this, really dude, you picked the arguement about what i said, not the other way around.

well a good 3/4 of the people in this post know what im talking about and have mentioned it, so really, your the minority who is left out of the loop, dont act all high and mighty about me referencing something

biker culture? its pretty easy to see "biker" culture, as they are at any local bar or on the roads, and i had a family friend who was one, so really, its not like they are some foreign species, they are right in our own cities. most of the actual "harley riders" or even "hog ridres" (once again, just giving an example, not saying THEY ARE THE ONLY ONES) are obnoxiously loud and annoying people who think they are badass when in reality they are nowhere near it

in your book? well "fag" in my book is a douchebag or really obnoxious person, doesn't mean the same thing as yours, now does it? so dont give me that crap about "arguement" because you clearly made it one from the get go.

and i never ONCE pointed you out nor quoted anything you said, so therefore answering your questions or talking about what you said originally has nothing to do with what i said in my post, so that was irrelevant to bring it up, im sure i just scrolled right by your post

i didn't mention at all yahtzee's video, and i never ever said thats what he was talking about, and i never said the average viewer would ever conclude that, stop making up these false accusations. they are all null and your just making up shit that has nothing to do with what i originally said

edit : so i should be "tolerant" of suicide bombers and their culture? they believe they get 72 virgins when they die, i didn't realize i should be tolerant of them and being obnoxious and killing a good round of people with them

thats an over example, but nonetheless true and applies to your whole "observe and be tolerant of the culture"

Sorry, I don't get offended at words directed at other people (like the n-word or the c-word) because that would make me look like one of those fat white people that get offended at everything because they secretly want the money from the subsequent lawsuit. Besides, I don't really get offended at words directed at me (like cracker for obvious reasons or prairie ni**er because I'm part Native Canadian), so why would I get offended at a word towards someone else?

Nah, I think it's all right. I don't think he is saying it in a malicious way. It's unfortunate that things like "that's gay" and "fag" have stuck around for such a long time, but I really think the majority of people that say it every day aren't directing it at anyone. If they are, most of the time they don't really think that person is gay or even care what their sexual orientation is at all.

He probably did it knowing it would get a reaction, and purely for the sake of getting a reaction. Shock value, Yahtzee uses it. It's the same thing with his 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand review where at the end he begins to say "niggers" before intentionally cutting himself off with the credits. He wants to see how much he can get away with.

Fag isnt and offensive term for gay people anymore it means:

Fag (făg) n. 1. An extremely annoying, inconsiderate
person most commonly associated with Harley riders.
2. A person who owns or frequently rides a Harley.

No, 'fag' is a term used to denote cigarettes (especially in the UK), to ask for a pack of fags is a common occurance and has no sexual connitations what-so-ever.
This can also result in some horrible misunderstandings, thanks to the phrase "Mind if I bum a fag?"

Here? Nothing wrong with that phrase. Elsewhere? Probably not so much.
I am well aware of the trans-Atlantic confusion that arise from the word 'fag' (god forbid should you ever announce that you're going outback to have a fag or that you haven't had one in weeks).
