I don't have a problem with travelogues per say, but I am worried about Yahtzee becoming a victim of his own success. First, there was Zero-Punctuation and it was good. Then, they stuck ads into the videos, and it was slightly less good. Then they replaced Zero-Punctuation with a multi-page add about how awesome Valve is. I am worried about pork from the game companies corrupting the Yahtzee I love, like they have with all the shills at Gamespot. Oh snap!
Yahtzee likes valve, its not meant as advertising

I'm playing Mass Effect right now, and there are definitely some aspects that are ripe for some flamage. However, I'm not going to tell Yahtzee how to do anything. I liked the Peggle review; And since I have absolutely no relationship to Peggle that proves that I'll be entertained with whatever he reviews.

ya, i havent really noticed any addy's in zero punctuation, the guy loves valve and valve loves him, thats about it i think. its not like he went there for an interview or some kind of story, he just happened to be invited and shared his actions there with us, thats it

i saw the review and went to play peggle...but i cant :( it just crashes before even starts up. its sad becaus ei wanted to compare what i thought of it to the review, my pc is more than able to play it seeing as i can easily run every new game recently (maybe its vista?) i cant even contact steam about it (i cant send them email because no longer have my serial key that they ask for seeing as brought hl2 when it first came out and hence lost it lol)

Am i the only one that hates mass effect?

It infuriates me to the point of throwing my remote down in digust and goin to play something else.

Even though Yahtzee does love Valve, he did critique them quite a bit in his Orange Box review.

I think we can all agree that Yahtzee's reviews are better when he takes the piss out of stuff
Therefore, no that basis, i would just love to see him review:
Big rigs, over the road racing
It would just be awesome.

on a sensible note, id also love to see him review crysis

a few people on here seem to think this thread is somehow offensive to Yahtzee or telling him what to do, if it is i appologize and its not intended. does anyone else here think that if so, why is it bad to discuss what we would LIKE to see reviewed and why? i know this thread is most likley going to have no effect on Yahtzee's reviews and its not intended to tell anyone what to do... i only meant it as a thread to express and compare opinion :(

I think Crysis has something that it has to hide within all this hype
i completely agree with that thought.

and the topic is just about what we'd like to see, even if it was intended to make yahtzee do it, i cant even start to believe he would listen to some shit for brains that happen to be on the forums :p

This is actually a very good question. I can't speak for anyone else, but I've been working in entertainment media for most of my life (since I was a teenager) and I'm the kind of person who gets a little bristly about this kind of thing even though I'm aware it's silly to do so. Allow me to explain why that might be so.

In general, performers and artists and content producers tend to react negatively to suggestions of this kind because we like to think of ourselves as something more than a jukebox. We like to pretend that we have some kind of autonomy in spite of the fact we work primarily for your (the audience) benefit, and your wants and needs color every facet of our lives.

We almost universally grouse about having to please an audience, even though we continually strive to do just that. Need to, even. It's a strange disease we have that forces us to prance around and show our naked asses for your amusement, but we do it because we live for your love. And then we hate ourselves for it, and so reject the notion that you can tell us what to do, even though we know you will and we'll suck it up and like it. Creative types are crazy. Remember this.

That said, I wouldn't dream of ignoring a thread of this kind, because what you guys want to see is a good indicator of what might be successful content. Also, it's important to keep the audience happy, even when you feel like a jukebox. I can't guarantee anything said in this thread will have any impact whatsoever on what's produced in Zero Punctuation, but do carry on. It's interesting to see what you guys are into these days.

Mass Effect is the obvious choice - but I would also love to see a crysis review. Seems to be not as good as was advertised and the disabled very high quality on DX9 which looks like DX10 after enabling and plays faster - fischy at best... The game needs a good slash through the face from our favorite reviewer. ;)

wow....that was a very good unexpected awnser, and best of all it awnsered most of the qeustions in my mind on the subject. i can kind of understand the viewpoint of those who get a little angry over threads such as this (i would compare it to say, talking to a musician as a fan and saying you should do a song about (insert topic) next. while i still view it as just my wanting to see if others had the same opinion as me, and to generally better understand the views of others in the gaming community. i really never even thought Yahtzee would read this thread (and probably hasent seeing as no post lol) the main part that confused me was people seemed to be speaking for Yahtzee, if somthing annoyed him im sure he would let it be known...im just saying if lots of people started speaking for me i wouldnt like it but thats just me lol and i dont really understand what it would be ike to be in Yahtzee's position so cant really comment on it...seeing as todays review is out now i suppose this threads kind of dead. I enjoyed his review as id considered this game recently but did think the last expansion was a tad repetitive and this valididated my suspicions that this would be to, so even though the review was not what i would have initialy hoped for or even expected it was good because i didnt expect it and caught me off gaurd. It was also intresting to see no one else seemed to expect the new fear expantion to be reviewed either :) things like that just intrest me.

i agree there, although if you can be bothered with creating an spending ages doing a cvar (you shouldnt have to bother with all that though) you can make the game look and run very well in very high dx 10 which i couldnt do before... still no one should have to pay for a game, spend loads on hardware and then have to mess round creating cvars and editing in game folders. but i suppose if we ever want games to progress its to be expected i knew alot of people who had same complaints (including me) about hl2 and far cry but because those games pushed the envolope a bit it lead to some nice advances and now days far cry and hl2 arent really classed as hardware hogs or demanding games...at least not to anyone ive met :)

did you actually legitmatly mean that or was it a joke, seeing as it was posted well after review was online and mentioned more than once on this forum about it being in review?
no offense if you did mean it and had no idea what was in review when you posted. lol just asking.

no, it was a joke. I had long seen the ZP before I posted that.

On a side note, I love that the first thing I see when I enter this thread is a picture of 3 bunnies in a convertable.
