Gotta love these elitist assholes who don't "demonize" smokers, but just think they're idiots - like being a smoker is some club for dumbasses that you have to wait in line for hours to get into and it can't happen to anyone, or quickly. They probably have tons of friends and family who smoke that they would never admit this to, but they still have the moral high ground.

To say "Smokers are literally paying to kill themselves" is completely missing the point and failing to acknowledge that the act of smoking is actually enjoyable. Nobody would do it otherwise. It's just a matter of not caring that it can kill you. Is it so crazy to think that somebody might not be as "high on life" as you?

They still think that their willpower is the iron fist of their souls that they've forged from long years of resisting temptations from all directions (all those smoking adds you see everywhere, I guess... you know the ones with people dying from various afflictions), and not the house of cards that it really is.

If you've never been a smoker, your opinion on the matter is worthless.

And that poll up top doesn't include people who have quit.

i think south park of all things put it best in "Butt Out." you can do whatever the hell you want to yourself and people should go mind their own business. taxes on cigarettes are already high enough without other people taxing your mind with their crap.

I don't smoke. I'm far too health conscious to do that. Anyway, I have allergies and even smelling it on someone's clothing gives me a headache.

I'm still not sure why anyone would want to smoke. Its disgusting and serves no practical purpose, and in expensive, and shortens both the length and quality of life. It makes no sense to me.

I don't smoke but my little(18) brother does and generally I don't care about people smoking it's their choice and I have realatives who smoke and always have but when he started to smoke I got really disapointed with him and started to call him an idiot everytime we see each other. Mostly becase I want him to live an healthy life and don't die before me becase of lung/throat-cancer.

I don't smoke, nor do I ever want to. I detest the smell. I don't really care if others smoke either, just prefer they don't do it in places that I have to hang around, as the smell lingers. And of course, as long as the smoke isn't blowing in my face, I'm fine.

I don't smoke, but i don't really have a problem with smokers. The only issue i have is the fact that i have seen SOME smokers spend their last dollar on a pack of cigarettes & let their kids go hungry. Thats the only problem i can see with smoking, when it takes over your life & thats all you care about, but I can say that about any addiction.

Smoking is smoking. I was raised around smokers and several of my friends used to smoke. I smoke a hooka and on occasion i smoke cigars. Just pull a bill hicks and if it happens again just look at them and say "Good thing you don't smoke."

Also just because i am an asshole at times.

And I do smoke cigar...illos. Basically the bastard child of a cigar and a cigarette.

Like the gentlemen above I smoke cigarillos from time to time. Anywhere between one a week to one a month. As for a reason, combination of I enjoy it and hero worship. THe hero worship and curiosity got me into it, the enjoyment kept me doing it. Not going to lie, it is a shitty reason to start, but w/e we all have issues.
Edit: I like the smell of a good cigar/cigarillo, but there is something about my dad and cigar smoke that makes him smell godawful about an hour after he finishes one.

I don't smoke but I don't get worked up over people who do. Unless they are relatives, then I wouldn't like it - only out of concern for their safety. But I still probably wouldn't say anything about it to them.

I smoked from ages 12 to 21, I quit five years ago. The funny thing is, I live in a house where EVERYONE else other than me smokes, and I fucking hate it. Just simply smelling the smoke clogs my nose, and if I actually have to inhale it, it just ruins my day. Second-hand smoke reeks, and it makes my head all muddled.

I am proud that I dont smoke, because it changed my life, I became more active, I found out what actual pulmonary endurance meant, and I was able to start saving WAY more money. So yeah, smoking's gay, and I'm a better person for not smoking. I don't care
if you smoke, just be considerate. My consideration for others while I smoked led to me quitting for good.

Interestingly enough though, I do smoke weed, and the first hand smoke from that doesnt bother me at all, but I'm extremely anal about bong hygiene, and avoiding over-smoking a bowl.

I used to smoke a lot more before, but never to the half a pack a day mark. Nowadays its just the 2 a day...one after work, and one more after dinner or before sleeping. When I lived in Australia, it was pretty okay with most people that I hung around with, nowadays it seems to be alienated a lot more with all the rules and such, where nobody can do it indoors anymore.

Now, I live in Indonesia, where it's totally different; hell, a bunch of guys after playing a game of indoor soccer will light up simultaneously while still sweating in their soccer shorts.

I used to smoke but after a while it got a little too expensive for me.
There's nothing wrong with smokers as long as they don't smoke in the middle of a crowd.
I do hate avid anti-smokers though. Once in high school I was talking to a friend who just lit up a cigarette and this girl walks up to us from accross the building and gives us this really fake cough. Stuff like that makes me want to slap people.

I smoke when I'm drunk. Usually at the bar or tailgates but that's it. I think smoking in excess is not a good thing but I don't judge people anymore.
