Censorship is always a bad thing, I'm not overly fussed about the context of it. Yes, people disagree, and that's their right. But that's the point: we have the right to express ourselves in certain ways. Just because a part of society has deemed certain words as offensive (for some reason or another), an artist is being censored? That's not right. If me and my friends find the word "brain" (as in a clever person) offensive, does that mean people shouldn't use it? No, of course not. Same concept.

I have to say I agree, merely mentioning alchohol is not going to make kids want to drink anymore than mentioning brussel sprouts will make kids want to eat them.
That's what I always find funny about the people making a fuss if someone is smoking in a movie... if you don't want your kids to see people smoking, don't take them out in public. Someone is almost always smoking nearly everywhere you go.

This isn't as bad as in Guitar Hero Smash Hits they censored "blow" in Killer Queen when he says "Guaranteed to blow your mind."
What!?!
That would only be considered wrong BECAUSE they censored it!

Damn it that is fucking stupid!

Really?! That's AWESOME! Puts a whole new spin on the meaning of that line. Reminds me of Jimmy Kimmell's Unnecessary Censorship clips.

EDIT: damn ninjas.

Did they also remove "rye?" Because it would be perfect if they didn't.
No they didn't the song goes "...and good old boys drinking _______ and rye singing, this'll be the day that I die..." Basically it's about 7 different kinds of fucked up, I really do not see why it was done.

Dammit I hit yes because I thought it said "is this ridiculous" in OP

It's stupid that some words are removed from censored songs, but unfortunately, it'll continue to happen. Liquor is normally removed from songs for some reason, but I don't really understand why. It's not like it's as bad as some things that escape censorship in songs.

I think it is stupid blanking words that are not swear words such like 'drugs' in rockstar by Nickleback!

But I guess they are trying to make it a family friendly as you can possibly make it!

Listen to the radio edit of the song "What it's like" by everlast. It's insane.

"Body bags and little rags (of children torn in two (cut out))"
"To (kill the unborn (also cut out)) in the woooooomb!"

Yeah it's bloody ridiculous. I'm sure there are more examples.

Wait, they censored "whiskey"? That's odd, I remember Elite Beat Agents leaving that word in the song "We're Gonna Rock this Town", and that game received an E10+ rating over here.

"Guys, we need to talk: We were wondering if you could change one of your lyrics..."
"No way man, our lyrics are our children!"
"Wait, just hear me out: How about instead of "I want to put it in you", you say "I want to hug and kiss you"?"
"That's great! that's something everyone can enjoy!"
