I must radiate friendliness because people will come out of nowhere to come talk to me...

Don't like going to talk to people but if approach I can be friendly...

You're Irish. You're genetically a nice guy. It's not a compliment, it's scientific fact.
For the most part, yeah but you get some real dickheads and assholes too. And I mean real dickheads. The type of dickhead who would fight you just cause he was bored or if you looked at him.

I've done performing arts for the past 8 years or so, so it's grown and grown, I have the confidence to speak to strangers when they approach me.
Not many strangers do, they avoid sitting next to me and I usually get sill little lads laughing at me, which lowers it a bit but I don't really care what people think of me.
Despite having a boyfriend who's like "you're sooooo gorgeous" I still feel fat and ugly and disgusting compared to my friends.

Not as much as I want. It's not critically bad, but I do self-pity more than I should. I'm also not great at meeting new people unless we have something to do, like a task to work around; just going up and saying 'hello' is hard for me.

I'm confident in more areas than others though; not very confident with sports or girls...well, just talking to girls is pretty fucking easy, but actually making a move on them is hard. I hesistate and give in a lot. Sports I just suck at, but then again exercise isn't that interesting to me anyway.

I know that people care about me and love me and whatnot, but I don't really give a flying shit about myself. So my self esteem is kinda "meh".

No, I don't get down about it. I only get down when I'm shopping or something and they don't stock my size ¬.¬
I never let it bug me because I have a happy life and complaining about my looks all the time would be shallow, there's people far worse off.

Very, very sad. Particlarly when they windge about being fat and ugly when they have hot boyfriend who thinks the opposite.

Geez open your eyes people, get over it. And stop comparing yourself to others and start kicking ass at life!!

I'm not great, but I'm learning. I make social blunders often, usually out of nervousness, but I just treat it as a learning experience.

Right now it's pretty low, but luckily something is causing it to be slowly on the rise. Hopefully it stays that way.

I have self-esteem issues, and with it a whole lovely subset of stress and image problems. I get jaw pain from clenching my teeth, I have scars on my hands from scratching at them without being aware of it, I can't accept praise, and I hate the way I look.

Yeah, I pretty much suck.

from what i read im getting confused if we are talking about self esteem or being just shy o_O

i think most of the time ppl talk about being shy n afraid from towns and shop centres or strangers asking for a cigarette ! :O

i voted more than enough but if it is truly about shyness then i should have voted TONS! :D cuz the word shy bounces right off my anti-shy force field which is at least 1 km radius of my head :D

Am I the only one here who isn't an introvert? Who here doesn't get nervous when meeting new people? Seriously am I the only one who isn't paranoid or a near catatonic state of introvertedness (if that is even a word)

I have enough. I don't like being around people--but that's mostly because I just don't like being around any amount of people.
