I don't know how to use a gun, so I'd probably be fucked no matter what I picked. If I did know how to use a gun, I'd be interested in what I assume you meant to say was an assault rifle.

No sniper rifle? Aww. Guess it'll have to be the shotgun then.

[small]Yes, I know that's a bit of a leap, but that's my usual loadout. Primary sniper rifle and secondary shotgun. Headshots abound.[/small]

LMG, the RPD with red dot or thermal sight, ammo aint an issue, lighter and more accurate than a minigun, better shots than comat rifle, better range than a shotgun, and closest i got to a sniper rifle.

though if i could pick sniper it would be a .50 cal Barret obviously.
if i took any shotgun it would have to be the AA12 with the ammo drums, 300RPM rate of fire and 20 shots per drum, 4 seconds to empty 20 shotgun shells into your face(well what was your face)

Combat Rifle. Probably a AK 47. Effective and durable. Something everyone needs in the wastelands.

Combat rifle, good all around gun, could hunt with it, plenty of power if I need to take something down. Might be a bit hard to use indoors but I'd rather plan around that then get an SMG and not be able to shoot anything more than a few meters away.
You do realise real life isn't like a game.

Pretty much any gun is going to have a decent range. The old MP5's effective range is 200M.
Yes but there's the "effective range" and then there's "my effective range", I doubt I'd be making very far shots with an SMG.

I like pistols. It's probably all the Westerns I grew up watching, but pistols seem more badass to me than an assault rifle or a mini-nuke.

I'd probably take the SMG, as I want something effective but I'm also kind of a wimp so I don't want to be lugging around one of the heavier weapons.
Especially if it's a P90, because I've always wanted one of those.

Shotgun. I doubt I'd be able to shoot with any accuracy at all at any range other than what a shotgun will reach--I know shotguns aren't like they are in video games.

Shotgun...

As in real life they have decent range and can take a whole host of ammo; won't have to be pin point precise with my shots as the spread will most likely get them. Also have mid to low recoil due to the size of the gun.
This.

In real life they are very functional at distances at least 5-6 times how they're depicted in games like CoD and Halo.
I'd say a good example of realistic shotguns is BFBC2.

Preferably, I'd like something like the classic Remington 870.
12-Gauge, 8 shells in the tube, pump-action, and it's size and stock helps with recoil.

If it wasn't available, then a revolver anyday.
Concealable, easy to carry, very simple to use.
Smith & Wesson Model 29 with 4-in barrel would be sweet.

I'd pick the AKM. It's reliable and easier to maintain. The inaccuracy is less of a big deal now the ammo provided is unlimited.

The 7.62x39mm rounds will reliably go through brick walls and kill the guy on the other side.
Now the 5.56 from an M16 can also shoot through a brick wall, but only if the angle is precisely head on.

LMGs are out of the question because those are too heavy to lug around.

By myself? I'd have the best chance of surviving with a combat rifle.

However I'd probably take the bazooka or minigun and then sell it for lots of money. Then buy a combat rifle :p

Combat Rifle. It's a pretty good all round weapon. Good range, good damage, robust, and if they get too close I can just twat them one with the butt of the rifle.
Just about sums it up for me.

I just hope that it's the knd that need very little maintnance.
Because getting spare parts in the wasteland is going to be tough.

Combat rifle. I've got training with them, and while my accuracy is...adequate, it's at least better than with a gun I haven't trained with. Plus, I'm pretty solid with a bayonet...

I'd rather not have to learn a different weapon while my life depends on it. I like living, thanks.
